A North Side woman and her live-in boyfriend are being held on $2 million bond each after being charged with gagging and beating the woman’s 2-year-old girl on multiple occasions.

Manuel Arellano-Aguilar, 24, and Anna Navarro, 19, both of the 2600 block of West Fitch Avenue, were charged Wednesday with aggravated battery to a child, police said.

They were ordered held on $2 million bond each, according to Cook County State's Attorney's office spokesman Andy Conklin.

Police were notified Sunday night when Navarro brought the girl, who had suffered skull and rib fractures, to University of Chicago Comer Children’s Hospital.

She initially claimed that she and the child were kidnapped by Arellano-Aguilar, and while she was at the hospital, her uncle flagged down police and told them his niece and her daughter were being held against their will, a police report said.

The uncle showed police cell phone pictures of bruises on the child, and told officers the toddler had a sock stuffed in her mouth and was tied with a scarf before being beaten by Arellano-Aguilar, according to the report.

Arellano-Aguilar was arrested at 11:30 p.m. Sunday. Navarro was arrested the next night after she allegedly admitted assisting in the beating by binding her daughter’s wrists, legs and mouth with scarves.

They're lucky they even got bond.

Lock 'em up, and throw away the key.
