Authorities conducted a water search of the Rock River for the body of a missing man last weekend but found no evidence in the man’s disappearance.

Rockford Police Deputy Chief Greg Lindmark said a police boat was in the river over the weekend to assist in the search for 48-year-old Mark Miller.
“His car was found in proximity to the river,” Lindmark said.

Miller last was seen March 12 when he left his job at the Clock Tower Resort & Conference Center.

Miller is a 5-foot-11, 170-pound Caucasian, with green eyes and brown hair.

(WKOW) -- On March 12, 2009, an Eau Claire man disappeared in northern Illinois. One year later, his family is hanging on to hope that he's alive somewhere.

Mark Miller, 48, didn't show up for work in Rockford, Ill., that day, and family and friends could not reach him.

Investigators searched for months, trying to find any clues as to where he went.

Recently, the family put together a YouTube video in hopes of getting more information.

After college, Mark A. Miller lived in Minnesota, Texas and Illinois. No matter the distance, he stayed in touch with his parents in his hometown of Eau Claire.

"He called me so often and just chatted with us," said his mother, Betty, who still lives in Eau Claire.

Miller, 49, disappeared one year ago today after leaving work in Rockford, Ill. His mother still wonders whenever the telephone rings.

48-year-old Mark Miller hasn't been seen since ending his shift as a caterer at the Clocktower Resort in March 2009. His family has actively been looking for him ever since. They're from out of the area and came to Rockford several times to host ground and water searches. America's Most Wanted airs at eight tonight.

Despite an extensive search effort, Mark Miller's case went cold. That was until 2012 when Miller's wallet was found at the Rocky Glen ATV Park right along the Rock River in Rockford. The Illinois State Police then joined in with the investigation. Human remains were discovered but they were not Miller's. "I was absolutely shocked to find out it wasn't him," says Tom Miller.

Despite that heartbreak, Tom Miller can't help but keep an eye on Rockford news. He holds his breath every time new remains are found...

"Just the not knowing is infinitely worse than knowing bad news. Just not knowing," says Tom Miller.
