I hope they can get pings off his cell phone while it's still on. Maybe he just didn't want to go to traffic court for some reason. I hope he's found alive and well soon.

    19 April 08

The vehicle of a local man who has been missing for nearly three weeks has been found, police said Saturday.

The dark green, 2004 Ford F-150 pickup truck that belongs to Alton resident Michael Womack, 25, was discovered in St. Clair County, Alton Police Chief Chris Sullivan said. He would not release the exact location of where the vehicle was found.

"There's no apparent sign of foul play; however, we still have been unable to locate the owner of the vehicle," he said.

The truck was found unoccupied, he said. Police have processed the vehicle.

    Alton man missing one year

Family hopes events will renew interest in case

A worried family will hold two events in coming days to mark the mysterious disappearance of their loved one a year ago.

On Saturday, friends and relatives of Michael Anthony Womack will gather at 4 p.m. at the Godfrey Human Development Center, 100 Lovejoy Lane, in Alton to share memories and offer support.

    The public is invited.

A candlelight vigil will follow on Tuesday, beginning at 7 p.m., in the 2500 block of Fernwood Place, where Womack last was seen exactly a year ago to the date, visiting a cousin's home.

Womack's sister, Apryll Pittman, 28, of Alton, said Pastor Tonya Brown of Bethesda Temple, 918 E. Fifth St., in Alton, will speak at the vigil.

Nearly a year after her younger brother vanished, Pittman said not knowing his fate or his whereabouts has been painful for the family, particularly their mother and one of his daughters.

"His daughter asks about him all of the time" and has trouble sleeping, she said.
Womack has five daughters under the age of 11 and a son he has never seen, who was born May 23.

What is taking so long for this poor soul to be identified? Who's car was he found in? Who owned the carport? Why was the car allowed to sit for seven years without any problems, no "tow warning"??? Any other car in Alton can't sit for more than one or two months without getting towed... Someone had a pretty large amount of confidence that the victim would be hidden, in plain sight, no less.. Then he changes from an African American male to a Hispanic male...but the facial reconstruction looks Caucasian as far as facial features go... What is going on?? Sounds like a lot of smoke and mirrors.

Family of missing man not giving up hope after a decade of searching
    https://www.riverbender.com/articles/details.cfm?id=27559
ALTON – A decade has passed, but the family of Michael Anthony Womack has not lost hope their brother may return to their lives, or at the least they may find closure on what happened to him.

Womack was last seen in Alton on March 31, 2008, when he was leaving his friend's home in his Ford F-150. That truck was discovered two weeks later in a parking lot in Cahokia with the keys in it, undisturbed. Womack's sister, Apryll Pittman, said she did not know anyone in Cahokia, nor did she believe her brother had any friends, family or associates in that area. She said the only reason he would have been in that area is due to his work at the Wood River Wal-Mart. She said the corporation was opening a new location in that area during the time her brother's truck was found, and said he may have been in the area to assist with that.

No credible leads have arisen since the discovery of that truck, Pittman said. She said in the initial days and weeks following her brother's disappearance, people were calling the Alton Police Department and her family with several possible leads and information. None of those leads led to closure of the case, however.

    [...]

Anyone with information on Womack's disappearance or current whereabouts is asked to contact the Alton Police Department at (618) 463-3505.

“We have nothing to cling to,” Pittman said. “We just don't know. It's a struggle for us to not know anything.”
