Hailynn Volpatti, 25, is charged with neglect of a dependent resulting in death following the drowing of her 1-year-old foster daughter, Nova Bryant, according to WTHR.

So many questions. First I wonder if this was a familial placement because the accused seems rather young to be fostering children, especially with at least two children of her own to wrangle.

So question 1 is how did she become the foster for baby Nova?

2. What on earth would make her think it was okay to leave a 1 year old child with the medical issues Nova had alone in a bath for any amount of time, et alone a half hour??

3. What on earth is she talking about Nova liked to stick her head face first in the water and gulp huge gulps of water???

Are we to believe this baby, with a history of oropharyngeal dysphagia (difficulty swallowing) and who needed a feeding tube for that reason, willing and regularly shoved her own face in the water and gulped water????

my take, we will find all sorts of hink and stink on this one.

RIH Nova, burn brightly

you can become foster parents at 21 in some places- but I have no idea why she would have such a medically fragile child- unless she had experience perhaps (previous work experience? Maybe) or would leave toddlers alone in a tub for extended periods of time!

I’d be curious how long nova had been placed in her home- moo

she looks like she's smirking in her mugshot

according to her FB, she 'Works at Launch Academy private pre-kindergarten'

Thanks- I’m not on FB -

she may not have it updated though
I don't know how she would have time to work and take care of a special needs foster child along with her own kids

Agreed- unless the preK was also a daycare/preschool and then you take the kids with you to work- moo
