    Where are you , Amanda???

    http://abclocal.go.com/wls/story?section=news/local/indiana&id=8358277

Amanda left her home around 10:00 pm Thursday evening. Her car, a gold 2006 Pontiac G6, was found a few hours later. The car had a flat tire, the driver's side door was open, and the keys were still in the ignition. :( Amanda's belongings were in the car, but her cell phone was not.

She was visiting a friend in Wheeler. He has since left town. He is a person of interest.

    This just doesn't sound good.

I just saw this too. So incredibly sad. Such a beautiful young woman.

There appears to be some conflicting information on where Amanda was located.

Investigators say Bach's body was found Saturday afternoon within 3 miles of the Deans General Store in Wheeler where her 2006 gold Pontiac G6 was found.

Praying the POI is found quickly.

And many prayers for Amanda's family and friends with this terrible loss.
Our hearts and prayers are with you.

Person in Custody in Portage Woman's Death

When Bach disappeared, she was heading to visit a man, believed to be the last person to see her alive. It's unclear if that man is the same person who's in the custody of the Porter County Sheriff's Department today.

The Sheriff's Department scheduled a 4 p.m. news conference Sunday to release details.

Suspect held in death of Amanda Bach, charges could come Monday

    http://www.suntimes.com/news/773974...of-amanda-bach-charges-could-come-monday.html

A Union Township man is being held in the Porter County Jail on suspicion of murder in the death of a 19-year-old Portage woman who was missing, police announced Sunday.

Amanda Bach was with the man after leaving her family’s home Thursday night around 10 p.m., police said. Her car was found at about 3:30 a.m. Saturday at Dean’s General Store along Indiana 130 in Wheeler.

“We’ll be seeking a murder charge Monday,” Detective Commander Jeff Biggs said during a news conference at the Porter County Sheriff’s Department, adding police will discuss the possibility of other charges with the prosecutor’s office.

Dustin McCowan, 18, of Union Township is being held in the Porter County Jail on suspicion of murder. He was brought back from Bloomington, Ind., as part of the investigation into the disapearance and death of Amanda Bach, 19, of Portage, whose body was found Saturday aftenoon near railroad tracks just south of Wheeler

Bach’s friends have described the suspect as the woman’s ex-boyfriend.

As CBS 2′s Derrick Blakley reports, Dustin McCowan, 18, was charged with murder Monday afternoon. Porter County Sheriff’s police said he was being held without bond at the Porter County Jail, pending his initial court appearance on Tuesday.

An autopsy was being performed Monday afternoon and Porter County prosecutors were waiting on a preliminary conclusion on what caused Bach’s death before proceeding with charges against the suspect.

Witnesses told investigators they heard voices outside the home of the suspect, Dustin McCowan, of Union Township.

According to prosecutors, neighbors said on early Friday morning they heard a female voice saying, “I can’t believe this is happening.” Then, a male voice saying repeatedly, “Amanda, get up!”

McCowan’s father, who is a Crown Point police officer, refused to allow a search of his property, authorities said.

Attorney: McCowan asserting innocence in Bach murder

One piece of possible evidence taken into police custody is the Crown Point Police Department squad car assigned to Dustin McCowan's father, Joseph Elliott McCowan. LaFlower confirmed that the vehicle was taken into police possession for evidence processing, though he couldn't comment on specifics.

Sheriff Dave Lain has concluded a Crown Point Police Department duty revolver belonging to McCowan's father was not used in Bach's murder.

Defense attorney Bob Harper said he's been retained by McCowan's family and that the 18-year-old Union Township man maintains he had nothing to do with the disappearance and death of Bach, a former girlfriend.

"Dustin denies any involvement in this act," Harper said. "He has denied any involvement since the police first spoke to him."

I'm very interested in how all this will play out. I found a little more info today -

In an interview conducted on Saturday, a juvenile identified only as “A.B.” told an investigator that she had visited McCowan at 4 a.m. Friday and was still there at 7 a.m. when McCowan’s father arrived home from work. At that time, A.B. advised, “Dustin got in the car with his father and the two headed north,” police have said. “Heading north on C.R. 625W leads one to both the location where the female body was found as well as Dean’s General Store.”

The most direct route from McCowan’s residence to Dean’s General Store—the most direct route as well to Bach’s home in Portage—is north on C.R. 625W to the Canadian National right-of-way, left (west) on C.R. 350N, right (north) on C.R. 650W, then northwest on Jones Road to Ind. 130.

In this article (and others) it mentions how a neighbor who lives next to Dustin McCowan heard voices outside her open window the night Amanda disappeared. A male voice saying, "Amanda get up!" and a female saying, "I can't believe this is happening."

How terrifying for that neighbor it must have been when she realized just what she had heard. Just wondering what people's opinions are on this. I imagine it was Dustin saying "Amanda, get up." But why? She must have still been alive or he thought she was alive if he was telling her to get up. So why wasn't she up? Was she inebriated and fell down? Passed out? Did he knock her down in a physical altercation?

And then the female voice saying, "I can't believe this is happening." Was it Amanda? Or someone else? What was happening that they couldn't believe? It is driving me nuts. We all know Amanda passed away that horrible night, but at this point she was being told to "get up!" I wonder if she was still alive then or if Dustin just thought she was, only to realize she was not. I wish we knew if the voice was Amanda or someone else.

The statement, "I can't believe this is happening" is chilling and creeps me out. It must be even more chilling for the neighbor that heard it. The statement makes me think Amanda was already dead and a female accomplice was there and couldn't believe it, but then why would Dustin tell a dead person to get up? As you can see I am just going in circles here. Thoughts?
