Identified! IN - Lake Village, 'Adam' 999UMIN - Larry Eyler victim, Oct'83 - Keith Lavell Bibbs

any response from Scott McCord regarding whether any of the names submitted were a match or otherwise ruled out?

This guy just showed up in DoeNet yesterday, and he reminded me of Brad Doe.

William Joseph Powers III

There is no mention of tattoos, but everything else lines up pretty well.

I sent a follow-up e-mail and received the following response.

Hi Carl;

I have not discounted William as a possible match and I am still looking into the case very actively. I am meeting with my Detective from the State Police here in Indiana next week and we will be putting more info into the computer (NCIC/NAMUS) for Brad. I will have him run William again and see what we come up with....

I will keep you posted as soon as there is anything near a match. Thanks for keeping in touch.

Scott

Any updates? I have just found this thread and find it interesting as I'm from Indiana.

None yet. I've followed up once, but I don't want to bug them for updates too often. I get the impression that Scott McCord is the type who would let me know if there are any developments one way or the other.

I was trying to find a match for Adam Doe (the African American UID) and three things struck me - 1. the face in the drawing is very enlongated and does not look that natural to me. I'm not questioning the skills of the person doing the sketches but it just looks "off" to me. 2. the age might be off considerably. Brad Doe (the white UID) was listed as 18-28 so I wonder why they are limiting Adam to a much shorter age range. just because Eyler said he looked that age? 3. even using very generous search criteria, I keep coming up with only one possible match at Namus and that's Ronald K. Ross, missing from NC in Sept 1978 at age 22:

https://www.findthemissing.org/cases/5709/0/

there were shockingly few African American males listed and to give you some idea of how generous my search criteria were I was looking for any AA male between the ages of 12-30, between 5'5" and 6'2" between 165 and 195 pounds, lka 10/31/1983. I even went slightly past the date of the discovery of the body and still next to nothing.

ONE person matched and that was Ross.

That artist does a "caricature" style of drawing -- one that exaggerates the person's most obvious features rather than trying to look realistic.

I imagine there was something about the UID that indicated a younger age -- maybe the growth plates in the long bones hadn't stopped growing.

I've noticed lots of people that look African-American to me are not marked that way in the missing persons files.

I don't include weight in search criteria because weight can change. But in addition to Ross, my search yielded only William Delk, Willie Reginald Clark, and the Newark 5 - none of which get me too excited about as possibles to Adam Doe.

Note - although Charley Project still hasn't closed the casefiles on the Newark 5, it is pretty clear what happened to them and the perp in their disappearance has been recently arrested.

Here's another recent article about Adam and Brad Doe, as well as the Jasper County John Doe.

... As of early January, McCord said, the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System showed 46 possible matches for Brad. But as he and Andrews went through them, certain details -- such as time frame -- didn't fit.

But two "are interesting," McCord said. He declined to elaborate, should information not work out.

The biggest challenge they face is time. Much of the original evidence, including clothing, is no longer available. And some of the original investigators have died.

Andrews urges anyone with information, regardless of how big or small, to call.

Donald Douma and William Joseph Powers III are still not listed on Brad's Rule-out list.

NamUs UP Case 6105 https://identifyus.org/cases/6105

I wonder if these are the two that he characterizes as "Interesting".

A new article on this case. Scott McCord is really doing a good job at keeping this case in the public eye after nearly 30 years. The picture on the article is of Adam Doe and rather different to the Doe Network picture.

Is serial killer's unidentified victim from Venice?
BY BETH HUNDSDORFER - News-Democrat

Scott McCord was just elected as the coroner of Newton County, Ind., in 2009 when he found two boxes in his office labeled "Victim 3" and "Victim 4."

McCord lifted the lid of the shopworn bankers' boxes and couldn't believe what he saw.

"Sure enough, it was bones," McCord said. "It startled the hell out of me, then it made me so mad to have them in old tattered bankers' boxes. It upset me that someone would be so cold as to do this to someone.".....

More at link above.

I noticed that they have two new facial recons for Adam and Brad.

William Joseph Powers, Donald Douma, and William Kermig Summers, Jr. are all still absent from Brad's Rule Out List, and William Christopher Delk and Charles Hall III are still absent from Adam's list.

However, DoeNet just updated William J. Powers III's casefile, indicating that DNA is available, so they should be able to look into this one now.

What about Mark Collman as a match to "Brad Doe"?

https://www.findthemissing.org/cases/12546/70?current_page=dna

He lived in IL near where they thought Eyler's route was.
Estimated age fits
Estimated weight fits
Close in the height range
There is a scar on Mark's nose (not sure if the reconstruction picture of "Brad" is showing an abnormality across his nose??)

21938

He's not on the rule-out list

I submitted Mark Collman as a potential match to "Brad" Doe. Will post what I find out...

is this case still active? I read a book on Eyler years ago, man was pure evil.

Yes, active with respect to the identity of the three UID victims (i.e., Adam, Brad, and the Jasper County John Doe), but not with respect to whodunnit.
