The judge is now addressing the gun charges. Loeherlein has waived the right for a hearing on them and has plead guilty to the charges

BREAKING — After 5-day trial, jury finds Clinton Loehrlein GUILTY AS CHARGED in the Jan 2017 murder of his wife and attempted murder of his two daughters. Total of six charges where he was found guilty.

Nicole and Cynthia both address their dad and say that they love him. Clint tell them they are sorry. He’s says they’ll take care of them. Lots of emotion as he is handcuffed and escorted out

Loehrlein: “You girls are the best girls I’ve ever had. Don’t worry about me, just worry about yourself.”

I'll check the court site tomorrow & see if there is a sentencing date.

Im glad he's been found guilty.

This part of all your posts from the trial stuck in my head:

State: You killed your wife and tried to kill both your daughters. You don’t want to be held responsible do you ?
Loehrlein: “I’m asking them to find me temporarily insane. That’s my goal.”

I think if I killed my husband and shot my kids, I wouldn't give a shiny sheet what my sentence or assumption of guilt was?! Money money money, as always.

Here's an article with the sentencing date.

Jury: Clint Loehrlein guilty on all charges in murder trial

EVANSVILLE, Ind. — A jury has convicted Clinton Loehrlein of murder, two counts of attempted murder, two counts of aggravated battery and misdemeanor resisting law enforcement.
The jury in Vanderburgh Superior Court deliberated about 2 1/2 hours before convicting him of all charges for murdering his wife Sherry Loehrlein and trying to kill their twin daughters in January 2017.
His sentencing hearing was scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Oct. 1 in Vanderburgh Superior Court.
    [.....]
Loehrlein also waived his right to a hearing and admitted to three sentence enhancements for using a firearm to commit a felony. That would add 5 to 20 years onto his sentence, according to the Prosecutor's Office.
    [.....]
Under Indiana law, a murder conviction carries a sentence up to 65 years. Attempted murder is a level 1 felony which carries a sentence up to 40 years.

Clinton Loehrlein murder trial could restart if mistrial motion is granted

A lawyer for Loehrlein has filed a motion to set aside Loehrlein's conviction and grant a mistrial. If the court approves the motion, it would prompt a new trial on the same charges with a new jury.

Loehrlein's sentencing hearing was cancelled so the court could address the mistrial motion first.

The documents related to the mistrial request are not available to the public, but records do show the mistrial request was related to "jury misconduct."

The court and lawyers will reconvene for a hearing at 1:30 p.m. on Oct. 26 in Vanderburgh Superior Court.

Guilty verdict could be thrown out in murder case

A guilty verdict for a convicted murderer in Vanderburgh County could be tossed out by a judge.
    [.....]
Loehrlein was scheduled to be sentenced Friday. Instead, lawyers agreed to re-think the judgement.

Judge Robert Pigman heard a motion to throw out his guilty verdict because of juror misconduct. Details weren't discussed in open court, and none of the lawyers involved explained anything.

According to U.S. legal definition, juror misconduct can be one of several things:
    - Talking about the trial outside the courthouse.
    - Using evidence outside trial to influence the jury.
    - Considering theories outside court.
    [.....]
The juror in question will give testimony at a private deposition November 29. Lawyers will submit written arguments to the judge by December 21. Loehrlein is scheduled to be back in court January 10.

Defense attorneys planned to call a juror from the trial to testify at the hearing on the mistrial motion. However, that juror objected to testifying in a public hearing and asked the court to quash their subpoena.

Pigman ruled the juror should testify in a private deposition, so identifying details about them could be kept private.

Personal information about jurors is confidential in Indiana unless it's disclosed in open court. Courts are required to protect that confidentiality unless it interferes with constitutional and statutory rights of the parties involved in a case.

The deposition will be taken in November. Attorneys will submit written arguments about the mistrial motion by Dec. 21 and come back to hear Pigman's ruling Jan. 10.

No ruling yet for mistrial motion in Loehrlein murder trial
