This guy's case is new to DoeNetwork.

I started a thread because one of my good friends is a Spalding, but they're probably not related. It seems like every other person in my local census would be a Mattingly, Ballard, Spalding or Chesser... So it's a real common name, and not all of the those with the aforementioned names are kin to other families of the same name.

    Stephen Lawrence Spalding (4839DMKY)

So he was technically in Indiana...

Clarksville's basically "Louisville" (in the general metro-type way) but is technically across the river and in a different jurisdiction.

I don't remember his disappearance being in the news, but I wonder if the IN/KY disconnect affected what was publicized where?

It was a much smaller world (information/news-wise) back then...

    Hi Jared,

Thanks for responding directly to this forum.

    Some questions.

    1) Was there any activity on bank accounts or social security after his disappearance?
    2) Do you know whether there was a large withdrawal of money before his disappearance? Did he pack anything before he left?
    3) Was he working when he disappeared?
    4) Were things scheduled as normal the week he disappeared - e.g. work appointments etc.
    5) What is you/your family's theory about what happened to your father?
    6) Did he bring his wallet/identification with him?
    7) How involved were the police in looking into his disappearance?
