So sorry to hear about the two neighbors. May their family, friends and the community find comfort in each other.

I've been reading up on this and I certainly hope it was an "accident". Myself and apparently a few other people think something may be fishy with the house/residents who lived there. Per the estanged hubby/father of the woman and daughter who lived there, she was at the casino with her bf, the daughter staying with friends..AND the CAT was being boarded. I don't know how long their stay was to be, but unless you're gone for a few days..no need to board a cat, imo. Also, she had an RO against the X...sole custody, tried to sell the house earlier this year but took it off the market and the daughter notified him they had to spend the night outside of the home recently because they had problems with the furnace. The spokesperson for the gas company also stated there had been high usage of gas from the home. The fire inspector kept repeating the cause is still under investigation...with nothing to add from reporter's questions. I so hope this wasn't intentional. I thought maybe a dozen homes...but's it's 80!!!! That was one heck of an explosion....

It looks like someone seriously under estimated how big and powerful that blast was going to be. Blowing up property is one thing, now you are a double murderer. *smh*

Some things that are particularly suspicious:

    • Everyone in the targeted household happened to be away during the explosion, including the cat.
    • The house had been on the market but was taken off in March. A house worth $230,000 had a sale price of $149,000.
    • Owners claimed earlier problems with furnace, smell of gas; mentioned to ex, but no complaint filed with energy company.
    • History of bankruptcy/ financial difficulties
    • BF has criminal record; criminal connections, maybe
Just speculation: Were the homeowners looking for an insurance settlement on the house? As you said, oceanblue, maybe they underestimated the force of the blast.

What a shame that two innocent, hard-working, much-loved people lost their lives, possibly due to greedy neighbors who only thought of themselves. :(

Yeh. I followed the news stories for a few days after the explosion and then tonight I saw that it's being investigated as a homicide. Just shocking.

The article from the Indy Star linked in a post above is identical to the 13wmaz article. Another article posted above from Fox59 says:

    more suspicious things:

-all vehicles (2-3) weren't home at the time of the explosion
-moncy (woman who owned the house) got a lawyer asap
-neither moncy or her b/f would look at the camera during interviews with media and the b/f admonished one reporter for filming him over a minute after the filming had begun where he was speaking directly to the reporter (lol)
-reports on one indy tv station's fb page that neighbours say they saw two men either entering or leaving the home that day

I wished I would have saved links, so treat this as you wish....

The homeowner and her BF broke up the day after the explosion. He's also supposedly reported on a website to out lonely heart con artists.
