I have a nuclear family member who is a recently retired MD and has interest in helping explain terminology, read autopsy results, and anything else that would be helpful.

This individual would prefer to stay anonymous and is concerned about how much information is necessary to provide to complete the verification process; identity theft is unfortunately no joking matter for my family.

Would an online state licensing board record or WebMD profile (that has an image) + a selfie be sufficient? I would like to grease the tracks as much as possible ahead of an application.

Thank you in advance and apologies if I have erred in my location choice for this thread.

i reported your post so a moderator can get you to the right place. I am not sure what is required, but I suspect they may need a license, Idk.
A mod will be along eventually to help you out. Welcome & good luck

    Hi @canteloupe,

The verification process is entirely confidential, members do not get to know the individual's real identity. Your family member would just join under a user ID of their choosing, and as soon as they are verified, that user ID would remain the same with just a notation such as Verified Medical Doctor displayed on their avatar.

I don't do the verifications but typically a driver's licence combined with proof of state licensing would most likely be sufficient.

@sillybilly thank you for the explanation. I appreciate you and the other posters taking the time to offer these reassurances.

I often forget myself that the internet can be as an intimidating environment for some as operating rooms are for others.
