A Jack Smith did play steel guitar with Bill Anderson's band the "po folks" in 1978 or 1979.
Actually, the band was called "po folks" by at least '78 or '79. I remember doing a few shows with them while with D&S during that time period. Jack Smith was playing steel with them at that point.
Articles about Jack...
At the early age of 13 years old, Jack Smith was initiated into the world of Gospel music. Jack's parents were Assembly of God Pastors in California, and they knew that they needed to get Jack involved in something that would keep him clear of the easy traps of the world, especially coming from such an anything goes place like California, and music was the thing.
Jack Smith realized music wouldn't always put food on the table, but knew he could never stray too far from it. As a result, he's managed to grow a small tape-duplicating operation into one of the largest in the Southeast, and he's not done yet.
This guy has to be worth some money IMO.
A post by TPS about the business....
We have owned and operated The Tape and Disc Factory for over 18 years in Nashville, Tennessee. We used to ONLY replicate for the HUGE stars, because of their massive volume.

Wow Kamille you ROCK! Thanks!:woohoo:
According to Wikpedia, Jack played steel guitar with The Happy Goodman Family from 1971-1974.
I really can't figure out if Jack still owns this company or not. Perhaps his son is running it for him?
This page supposedly shows current information and the company is still listed with Jack as the President.
Oh, interesting about his religious background. Any info on how long they lived in CA and when Jack got to TN?
Thanks for bringing my post over Debloree However, BBM I think we should keep Jack's associated cities (these cities are only for where JS and ONE of his daughter's have been known to have lived -- not friends and not any other relatives) separate and this list that I previously compiled was for another purpose and has people he may have never met from TS side
I know his mother lives in CA
Should I post the places assocatied with his other family members?
I would guess from Kamille's link that he moved to TN at 16?
Yes I believe he moved to TN when he was hired by the Happy Goodman Family in 1971.
Hi Prof, sorry I misunderstood. I deleted my post and if you want to post any cities you know about where Jack possibly has lived , that would be great.
I think this counts as background.
On Nancy Grace, 1/8/2010, Jack says he has not been to the Nashville area in a year and a half.
Is there any recorded criminal activity for JS? Any details on the adoption of H?
How long was his first marriage?
I can't shake this feeling of JS being involvement. I think we need to dig deeper into his past. I noticed on his Myspace he is a Realtor in Arizona. I am thinking if he was a Realtor there, was he a Realtor in Texas.
I just checked to see if he has ever had an active Texas Real Estate license through the Texas Real Estate Commission and he hasn't.
Thank you ....IS there a national listing available to show present or past....
I think you have to go by state and it does show active, inactive or expired, for example the Texas Real Estate Commission listings under JS showed up like this:
Broker Active 5/31/2011 Copperas Cove, TX
Salesperson Inactive 9/30/2010 Austin, TX
Salesperson Active 12/31/2010 Abilene, TX
Salesperson Expired 9/30/2001 Fort Worth, TX
Salesperson Active 3/31/2010 Arlington, TX
Salesperson Active 4/30/2011 Lubbock, TX
None of the middle names were a match for JS
I am missing the link between AZ and TX --not sure that he has ever lived there
Am I missing something else?
Separate names with a comma.
