Six people stabbed to death inside flat in Jersey (Daily Mail)

Six people, including two children, have been stabbed to death during a domestic incident in Jersey.

The two children were killed alongside two men and a woman, while a sixth person died in hospital following an incident at a flat in Victoria Crescent, St Helier.

Police were called to the incident at the flat at around 3pm following reports of the multiple stabbing.

The dead, all Jersey residents, were a man, two women and three children, police said.

Some were stabbed inside their home, others outside the property, which is located on a relatively secluded side street. The 30-year-old suspect, who was not identified, also sustained unspecified injuries that were not life-threatening. Police said they were questioning him at his hospital bed.

Neighbors said they thought at least some of the victims were Polish. One witness, Andre Thorpe, said he saw police running around the property trying to gain access, then paramedics carrying a bloodied child from the scene.

"It goes without saying that when you are dealing with multiple deaths, of men and women and, in particular young children, you would be inhuman not to be shaken yourself," Police Det. Superintendent Stewart Gull said.

Violent crime is unusual and murder rare on Jersey, a British island dependency 14 miles (22 kilometers) west of France's Normandy peninsula. The largest of Britain's Channel Islands has a police force of 236 officers to protect about 92,500 residents, many of them tax exiles.

"Jersey is an incredibly safe island, probably one of the safest places in the Western world," Gull said.

Just saw this on the news. A neighbour was interviewed, a elderly man who reported hearing children screaming in "absolute terror"

Although this wasn't one of the "select" areas of Jersey, the crime rate is almost nil. They last had a murder in 2004.
There was footage of an armed policeman outside the house. It is such a small area that they had to close the ER when this happened

Jersey mourns after three adults and three children murdered in knife attack (Guardian)

It had been a weekend of celebration for the Polish community on Jersey. Tourists were joining with locals to sample Polish food and music, while many Catholics had been marking the feast of Our Lady of Czestochowa.

The killings happened as St Helier was nearing the end of a three-day festival of food and live music celebrating Jersey's Polish links. There are around 3,000 Polish people on the island, which has a total population of 92,500.

The event continued until 10pm, according to organiser Magda Chimielewska, as some visitors remained unaware of what had happened. "It was an incredibly hard task. We could not close or not run it. In general, people are very sad, people are crying, they are shocked. It is such a shame what has happened. It could happen anywhere but it happened to us and we are getting together.

"The Polish community gets on with the local community so well," added Chimielewska. "It was amazing, locals trying our food, singing our songs. Jersey is a beautiful place, people are open to other nationalities."

What is going on in the world? This is just tragic . . . another horrible crime against a family.

I wonder when he will be able to talk, and what he could possibly say that will make any difference.

How unbelievably sad. Such beautiful children. Beautiful family. This man tries to overdose on antidepressants and is taken to hospital and just released? Just left out? Go.

Plus at the conclusion of the feast of Our Lady Of Czestochowa? The Black Madonna. I pray to her. She's beautiful and her miracles are on large scales. We call her Jasna Gora as well I think for the place in which her painting resides darkened supposedly by the many candles lit for eons.

Not this time dear family. Our Lady has you in her arms. Now what becomes of this very sick man who was called husband and father?

He cannot possibly be walking free!!! I am sure they will arrest him as soon as he is fit to leave hospital.
The Police Chief is the same one who was on the Suffolk Strangler case, no flies on him...

A man killed six people, including his wife and their two young children, in a savage knife attack on the island of Jersey because he could not face the break-up of his marriage, his trial has heard.

Damian Rzeszowski, a builder, struck as his wife, Izabela, was playing with the youngsters and a friend's daughter in the living room of their flat, the court heard.

Rzeszowski, a 31-year-old Polish national, is accused of murdering Mrs Rzeszowska, their children, Kinga, five, and two-year-old Kacper. He also allegedly murdered his wife's father, Marek Garstka, her friend Marta De La Haye and De La Haye's five-year-old daughter, Julia.
