Today the court is hearing motions in a pre-trial hearing in the Kathleen Savio murder trial, which is scheduled to begin on July 8th. Joel Brodsky has introduced a number of motions, including a motion to ban Stacy Peterson's name from the trial. The defense has also requested the trial be delayed until the third week of August. The judge hasn't ruled on all motions presented today.

The defense had a lot of motions before the court in today's hearing, including a motion to ban all media appearances of Drew Peterson from the trial. All the interviews that Drew gave on national television programs, like Good Morning America, would not be allowed.

At this time, the judge is having a behind closed doors hearing on Drew Peterson's prior "bad acts" which the defense doesn't want included in the trial.

This is the last Twitter message from Joe Hosey, reporter for Chicago Hearld News and author of "Fatal Vows: The Tragic Wives of Sargent Drew Peterson", who is in the courtroom today and reporting on this pretrial hearing.

    Joe Hosey:
This closed hearing is still going on. Drew must have a lot of prior bad acts for them to talk about. about 1 hour ago via txt

Updated twitter from Joe Hosey. I'm waiting for an updated news article with a run down on all the motions made today and whether or not they were approved. At least we know that the trial will begin on schedule.

The hearing is over. Nothing earth-shattering. Defense asked a couple more times to postpone the trial. The judge said no.

It looks like most of the motions presented by the defense team were denied. The judge refused to delay the trial; denied the motion to dismiss the indictment; denied a motion to sequester the jury; denied a motion to quash the exhumation evidence and search warrant of Kathleen Savio's body; denied a motion to surpress evidence in connection to the search warrant in connection with Stacy Peterson. Still under consideration is the defense motion to not allow any of DP's media interviews given before his arrest.
