with the Larry King interview coming up and in light of her rape being connected to Garrido I thought we might need a space just for info on her case (as it may prove insightful into figuring this sicko guy out)... Here are a few articles on her case, the officer that rescued her, etc:

It says in the original news reports the original rape victim was "a South Lake Tahoe woman"

QUOTE: Garrido had knocked on the window of her car after she entered it Monday night in a South Lake Tahoe market parking lot. She said he asked for a ride, saying his car was disabled. END QUOTE from: http://www.rgj.com/article/20090827/NEWS/90827035/1321/news

Was Garrido a regular in that area before and after his sentence?

If he was wearing a GPS shouldn't she have been notified of him being in her (the victim's) safe zone?

Wasn't Jaycee Duggard originally kidnapped from the South Lake Tahoe area? Why wouldn't they search all GPS data on all sex offenders in that area during the time of her abduction?

What was his connection to that area?

There are earlier reports he had a house in the area. He took his first victim across state lines to Nevada to commit his crimes. Lake Tahoe borders both California and Nevada- the actual border runs through the lake. The city of South Lake Tahoe is on the California side, the casinos are on the Nevada side. Not sure how it works in terms of parole...

How far away is Jaycee's home from where Catharine was originally abducted?

The reports say a market parking lot in South Lake Tahoe.

Did they look at all sex offenders in the area at the time of Jaycee's abduction?

Why wouldn't they have looked at Garrido?

With all due respect, should we really have a thread solely devoted to a rape victim, that is titled with her name?

I understand the interest and how this case links with other possible crimes of Garridos, but I don't think it's right to post this womans name, openly discuss and disect the horrible rape committed against her.

Putting myself in her shoes, I wouldn't want threads devoted to me and titled with my real name. She has a right to a certain amount of anonymity. As a pro-victim site, we should respect that.

I did a search for the school address which is now the
Lake Tahoe Environmental Science Magnet School
located at 1095 San Bernardino Ave., South Lake Tahoe, CA 96150

The original abduction was less than 8.2miles approx 14 mins away at:
(not confirmed this is the markey) Safeway, 1020 Johnson Blvd, South Lake Tahoe, CA 96150

Actually, Jaycee was attending Meyers Elementary- which I think is still in existance, and she was abducted by her home- 200 yards from the bus stop- in Meyers.

With all due respect. She's been quoted in the news and is voluntarily coming forward on Larry King tonight.

She's a very brave woman. More should come forward and shatter the silence of rape.

My mistake. I didn't know she was going on Larry King and was coming forward. Makes it totally different, then, since she is the coming forward. I suppose I should've read more before sounding off.

I agree that more should come forward and shatter the silence, I just didn't know that she was talking about this. :blowkiss:

I don't think they had the GPS technology back then, did they?

Because at the time, he lived 170 miles away. And, his previous crime
    was not against a child.

It's been in use for sex offenders.

It's a good question. It states he was required to wear it. From what I've read about GPS it's suppose to be a requirement by the Parole Dept.

But it could have been added as the laws changed.

but... and a HUGE BUT....he was still an RSO with ties to that area (per his first kidnapping).. If I were a cop and were looking at past kidnappings I would see his name and want to find out where he was that day...

bringing over this other post from the gps tracking thread as it shows the close proximity of the two crimes:

[ame="http://www.websleuths.com/forums/showpost.php?p=4102911&postcount=12"]Websleuths Crime Sleuthing Community - View Single Post - GPS should help put him away? Any Info?[/ame]

I do agree that LE may have blown him off due to his previous KNOWN victim selection and had on the blinders since it was a child.

I really wonder what car he was driving when he abducted Katherine!!!! Did it match the description of the sedan or the rusty old van? The cops cops should be able to link that up post haste but a lot of good hindsight does now, eh?
