GUILTY KS - 13 yr old girl Sodomy case - Holton

September 1. Ewing's family seems unaware of proper court protocols involving behavior and decorum. If I happen to be in the courtroom and notice a member of the defendant's family intimidating a witness or a victim, yet going unsanctioned, I will write a letter to the bar association. The judge should have held that family member in contempt of court for her shouting.

Just so this thread is not moved there is 2 more trials to be held in October and November.

Jacob Ewing sentenced to 27 years in prison for raping two women

Gasps spread through a Jackson County courtroom Friday when a district judge sentenced Jacob C. Ewing to more than 27 years in prison for the rape and sodomy of two women.

Ewing, 22, must also register for life as a sexual offender and pay more than $100,000 in restitution. The Holton man was convicted in June of raping and sodomizing one woman in 2016 and another in 2014. He was also found guilty of two counts of battery, possession of drug paraphernalia and two charges related to furnishing alcohol to minors.

He will stand trial Oct. 2 for charges of attempted rape, aggravated sexual battery and battery. Another trial involving 10 felony counts of sexual exploitation of a child is scheduled for Nov. 15. That case hinges on evidence Ewing knowingly viewed sexually explicit images of a 17-year-old girl.

Prosecutor: Jacob Ewing pleas ‘light at the end of the tunnel’ for victims

Just three days before he was to return to court to face a trial for an attempted rape, Jacob Ewing made pleas in a last-minute hearing on Friday that convicted him in the attempted rape case and a child *advertiser censored* case.

Ewing, 22, pleaded guilty to charges of attempted rape and no contest to multiple counts of exploitation of child. The Holton man was sentenced to nearly three decades in prison for the rape and sodomy of two women earlier this month. In April a Jackson County jury acquitted him of charges he raped a sodomized an underage girl.

“That resolves all of them,” Jackson County Attorney Shawna Miller said Friday evening of the plea deal. “It’s good to have a resolution and a light at the end of the tunnel for the victims, law enforcement (officers) and the court, to start to have all this behind us.”

HOLTON — Jacob C. Ewing, a Holton man at the center of several sex crimes that bitterly divided the community, will spend more than 30 years behind bars after a judge Wednesday sentenced him to an additional seven years for attempted rape and child exploitation.

Jackson County District Judge Norbert Marek sentenced Ewing to almost five years for the attempted rape of a woman in January 2014. Ewing pleaded guilty to the charge in September and no contest to a single charge of child exploitation related to images of an underage girl. For that crime, Marek sentenced Ewing to about two and half years.

Those sentences are in addition to the 27 years Ewing received in September after he was convicted of raping and sodomizing two other women.

Marek departed from plea deal struck by special prosecutor Jacqie Spradling and defense attorney Kathleen Ambrosio, who agreed Ewing’s sentences could be served concurrently. Instead, Marek delivered stern consecutive sentences placing Ewing, 23, in prison for 37 years.
