LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A 21-year-old is facing murder and assault charges after her parents were found shot in their Munfordville home.
Kentucky State Police said officers were called to a report of a shooting on G. Shelton Road in northern Hart County just after 3 a.m. Sunday.


56-year-old Jeffrey Nie and his wife, 58-year-old Barbara Nie, were found with apparent gunshot wounds in an upstairs bedroom of the home.
According to police, Jeffrey Nie sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced deceased on the scene. Barbara Nie sustained a gunshot wound and was taken to a local hospital. She was later transported to University Hospital in Louisville where she is listed in serious condition, but stable.


After preliminary investigation, officers arrested their biological daughter, 21-year-old Brina Nie, and charged her with murder and assault.

She seems deep into partying , and her smile looks fake to me, her eyes look dead. It all looks so posed, but that's typical of FB/Instagram. If you look on her Instagram page she has a quote that many a person struggling with addiction uses "rock bottom became a firm foundation on which I rebuilt my life". This is pure speculation on my part, but I'm guessing she relapsed recently, possibly leading to this.

I hope these two children's father/fathers will step up.

My thouhts! She has that Stepford wife touch, almost with a robot-like smile.

WOW, only she and her mom know who killed her dad and shot her mom. He was shot multiple times, so I doubt he was the shooter. The mom, from all MSM accounts, was shot once. Mom called 911, and daughter was arrested.

Two scenarios, IMO:

1. Mom shot dad multiple times, shot herself and then called the police?
2. Daughter shot dad multiple times, shot mom once (or mom got in the way)? Mom called 911.

Only two people know.

For some reason, I am very interested in this case. Was she mentally I'll, was there abuse? There are nothing but amazing things out there about her dad. Just very sad....

Nichols also asked May whether Brina Nie made any incriminating statements when he questioned her about the shooting, and May testified that she did and that it was those statements that led to her arrest.
Brina Nie's case was bound over to a Hart County grand jury to determine whether there is enough evidence pending against her for an indictment.
​She remained incarcerated in the Hart County Jail on a $500,000 cash bond, according to the jail's website.
 
Sometimes horrible things happen at home which can drive children to try to numb pain with drugs. Have no idea what the reasons are in this case. Seems dad was The target. If mom was only hit once possibly she just got in the way. We don't know squat at this point.

Brina's mother visited her recently and asked, "WHY?" She replied she didn't know why, she just felt like it.

There was no animosity when the couple went to bed.

Brina had her first little girl, and her family supported her and even helped her with her own apartment, etc. When she became pregnant with her second child, her parents were saddened by her choices in life, and especially for the children, but they allowed her to move in with them. They had spoiled their only child all of her life and were still trying to help her.

Her mother stated to her friend she is now afraid of her daughter if she were to get out. Her close friend told her, "You have every right to be. She tried to kill you."

Motions granted in Nie and Wilson cases

GLASGOW – A motion filed by the commonwealth was granted Tuesday in Hart Circuit Court to send Brina Nie to the Kentucky Correctional Psychiatric Center in LaGrange for examination of her mental condition.

Nie is accused of shooting her parents at their home at 370 G. Shelton Road in northern Hart County in April.

In the motion, the commonwealth stated the “defendant may lack capacity to appreciate the nature and consequences of the proceedings against (her).”

The examining psychiatrist will report his findings to Hart Circuit Court. In his report, he is to make a determination on whether or not Nie, “as a result of mental disease or defect, lacks capacity to appreciate the nature and consequences of the proceedings against (her) or to participate rationally in (her) own defense.”

The psychiatrist is also to report whether or not he thinks Nie is competent enough to stand trial and whether or not she will cause injury to herself or others if not restrained.

Nie is due back in court on Dec. 14 for a pretrial conference.
