Police, family searching for missing Radcliff man

    By REBECCA JOHNS
    May 22 2005

The Radcliff Police Department is looking for a local man reported missing Wednesday.

Friends and family reported Kenny M. Naidas Jr., 24, missing after he failed to return to the Radcliff home he shares with his fiancée at 1360 Bramblett Blvd. RPD spokeswoman Elaine Leach said Naidas' fiancée, who asked to remain unnamed, last spoke to him about 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, and he has not returned home or reported to work since.

Police said Naidas had planned to stop at a store before returning home that afternoon.

"The circumstances are more unusual than suspicious," Leach said.

She also said Naidas' employer, United Parcel Service in Louisville, says it is unusual for Naidas not to show up for work without calling.

"From what we understand, he's a good employee with a good work ethic who is faithful and reliable," said Leach.

Leach said Naidas' car was discovered Thursday undisturbed at a parking lot that is shared by the Dollar General Store and Corbanos Italiana Restaurant on South Dixie Boulevard in Radcliff. Leach said the vehicle's location did not indicate which business Naidas might have been in, and there was nothing particularly suspicious about the way the car was left.

Leach said when an adult is missing, it is important to determine if the person is missing of his or her free will.

"We just need to know all is well with him," said Leach. Police encourage Naidas or anyone who might have seen Naidas to contact the detective section of the Radcliff Police Department at (270) 351-4477 or 351-4470.

Naidas was last seen wearing a red shirt, blue jeans and red and white Nike Air Jordans. He is described as being of Asian desent with black hair, brown eyes, standing 5 feet, 7 inches tall and weighing 180 pounds. Naidas also has a distinctive tattoo depicting the "Seal of Guam" on his left shoulder and a "Chamorro style art" tattoo on his neck.

    TheLouisvilleChannel.com

A Kentucky man is still missing after police found his car in a parking lot.

Kenny Naidas Jr., 24, disappeared Wednesday when he went to run some errands, WLKY NewsChannel 32 reported.

He called his fiancee to tell her he was on his way home, but he never showed up, police said.

His car was found the next morning in a Radcliff parking lot.

Naidas' fiancee said as much as she misses him, it's even harder trying to explain his disappearance to their children.

Naidas last was seen wearing a red shirt, blue jeans and red-and-white Nike Air Jordans.

He is 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighs 180 pounds and has black hair and brown eyes.

He has a tattoo of the Seal of Guam on his left shoulder and has writing tattooed on the back of his neck.

Anyone with information should contact the Radcliff Police Department at (270) 351-4477.

Family still perplexed by man's disappearance

    By C.J. GREGORY
    June 05 2005

Ken Naidas is still perplexed by his son's disappearance.

"This whole thing is baffling to me," he said. "We really don't know what happened."

Police have been searching for Kenny Jr. M. Naidas, 23, of Radcliff, since his car was found May 18 in the parking lot shared by Corbano's Italian restaurant and Dollar General Store on U.S. 31W.

Naidas said he got a call from his son's fiancée around 4:30 p.m. that told him something wasn't right.

"She said he called around 1:30 and said he was heading home," he said, "but he never showed up, never answered his cell phone."

An initial investigation by the Radcliff Police Department indicated no evidence of foul play, but the last call made from his cell phone was the one calling to say he'd be home, which his father said just doesn't make sense.

"That day was really odd," he said. "If he was in trouble, he would have said something."

Naidas had just finished his 90-day probationary period as a computer technician at United Parcel Service in Louisville, and his dad said knowing how important that job is to him, he wouldn't just walk away.

"He wouldn't jeopardize everything he's worked for," he said.

Naidas said that kind of behavior is out of character for his son, who he said is a committed family man.

Kenny Jr. and his fiancé each have one child from previous relationships and one child together.

"He is very close to his kids," Naidas said. "He's a hard worker, and he puts in a lot of time so he can get his family exactly what they want whenever they want it."

The link between father and son is very tight as well, Naidas said.

"He and I are very close," he said. "He would always come to me for my opinion, whether he'd already decided on something or not."

Police didn't locate the car until early the next day, Naidas said. Finding the car, however, didn't really provide any more information than was already known.

"We still don't know why he was in the parking lot, or which business he may have been in," Naidas said.

Kenny's father said he certainly has some extra things to look forward to this month, which adds to the mystery of just what may have happened.

His wedding date and his 24th birthday will fall on June 25.

Naidas' fiancée said he was last seen wearing a red shirt, blue jeans and Nike Air Jordans.

He is 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighs about 180 pounds and has a light tan complexion.

He has two tattoos — one depicting the seal of Guam on his left shoulder, and one just below his neck in the back that says "Chamorro style."

Anyone with information relating to Kenny Naidas' disappearance to contact police at (270) 351-4477.

It's strange, isn't it - everyone in these stories just sort of seems to have idle curiousity about where he could be.

It's kind of a mystery why his father calls him a "committed family man" when he's 23, got two kids and no wife and it's not clear he's ever been married at all. And his wedding was coming up next month . . .

Sounds pretty hopeful he'll be found alive. Prayers for his family.

wonder if he was into drugs at all? His "running some errands" could've been code for "picking up drugs"....and he got met with foul play?

    Can't ever be too sure...

    Missing Man May Be Hiding

Police said a Radcliff man, missing for two years, might actually be in hiding.

The lead detective in the Kenny Naidas case said there is no evidence of foul play.

Police said there was an attempted kidnapping in Murray Kentucky three days after Naidas disappeared. That investigation resulted in a major drug bust and the indictments of a Radcliff man and a Vine Grove man.

Police said the men most likely know what happened to Naidas.
