finger injuries don't even have to appear very severe to require surgery. If you cut a tendon then you have to repair it in order for your finger to work correctly, otherwise it will not for the rest of your life. It will be very interesting to find out how he injured himself in this way. Why did he not get surgery at the NO hospital, but then later did at a hospital closer to his home? If I read the article right that's what it sounded like to me.
I remember an earlier article that I can't find now stated that he was referred by Ochner to another facility for surgery to his hand. There was a discussion here at the time about why they wouldn't have performed the surgery in NO.

Refusing to talk in my opinion equals admitting to the crime too. If it were me, and I was innocent, I'd be talking to everybody and their little dog. I'd ask for a lie detector and anything else that might help to prove my innocence. Oh yeah, he's guilty as sin.

I'm not a lawyer, but I spend a lot of time around them. Every one of them told me that it's okay to answer very general questions, but if it appears that the police are honing in on you then to immediately stop the interview and request a lawyer. Even if you're innocent (one said especially if you're innocent). Suspicious bunch. ;-)

Re: BSL. Back in 1999 when he was questioned in the case in which he was ultimately convicted, he requested a lawyer immediately. The investigators were going to hold him until he could obtain an attorney. He wanted to know why he was being arrested w/o anyone hearing his side of the story. He was advised that they wanted to hear his story, but now could not since he requested a lawyer. BSL then stated he changed his mind and talked to investigators (info from 1999 police report narrative).

Without even considering his guilt or innocence in Mickey's case, he certainly learned a lesson from his prior experience. I'm not surprised that he would not talk with having a lawyer present.

The Daily Advertiser confirmed last week that Lavergne owns two properties on Constantine Road in Lafayette Parish in the Duson area.

Assuming the Grand Jury believes they have enough evidence to go to trial,, how long will it take to go to trial?

Possible - if air were trapped in the handlebars.

Think about this - Mr. Shunick and his son had a lot of trouble with the first set of handgrips. Couldn't get them on and then a devil of a time getting them off.

Second set maybe wasn't so tight.

It could have been that they were creating pressure while putting them on, and fighting friction when pulling them off.

If the grips were on so tight that the inside of the handlebars had become pressurized - and held the pressure - and if the grips were made of a material that became slightly saturated/slippery in water - they could have popped off/slid off due to internal pressure and the motion of the current... especially if the bike were dragged along the bottom a bit by the current (I believe that the bike was dragged a bit by the current up to 30 feet or so downstream, due to my observations at the site.)
I'm sorry, but I was under the impression that they never were able to get the first set off to get the second set on. Perhaps I misread the article...wouldn't be the first time.:)

I heard on the news that it could take a year. A long time, I know.

Question for Someguy - Was he angered easily? Did you ever detect that he looked down to women? Was his relationship with his adopted Mother a good one? Thanking you in advance...

How far is Constantine Rd from Bw's? Aren't both streets just off Landry? Is Landry the way MS would have ridden home?
If BSL owns a place in Duson WHY isn't he registered as an RSO there?????

Does he REALLY even live in Church Point? Is it just a place set up to ful fill his RSO requirements?:banghead:
I am majorly confused or
This is creepy~

"Our sources say doctors at the hospital performed surgery on his finger, and note that at the time Lavergne also was suffering from an extensive breakout of poison ivy."
I was just thinking about the fact that BSL had an extensive poison ivy rash (as noted by the hospital), and am assuming since he has a sensitivity to poison ivy, he normally would have been careful to avoid it. It seems to me the poison ivy rash may be related to his concealing of Mickey, and if so, that this was likely done under cover of night with little light to guide him. MOO

A conviction in a death penalty case has automatic appeals. Serial killer DTL appealed his conviction & death sentence. Denial of a Change of Venue was included in the appeal. Yet the appeal was denied.

DTL's trial ocurred prior to the internet info & communication explosion that we experience today. As did Brandon Scott Lavergne, the internet has no borders, nor boundaries..

I agree, we are looking at an automatic appeal process.

In regards to DTL, there was a strong internet presence back then. Court TV had an area set aside for us to discuss the Baton Rouge murders. We had many, many locals from Louisiana posting, even more locals than we have here right now. In fact, we BEGAN the discussion before LE had even admitted we had a serial murderer on our hands! We had a DNA scientist, the wife of a prominent official who was involved in the case, we had people who had "inside" info from the crime lab in New Iberia, some reporters and relatives and friends of the victims taking part in our discussion. We knew the perp was black or mixed racially before LE admitted that, we had the sketch of the perp before it was released to the public, although it quickly got pulled. We didn't have FaceBook, but we had a LOT of Internet involvement. Believe me, people were theorizing way back then that the trial would have to be moved because all of us posters had completely contaminated the jury pool!

Just throwing that out there because I believe that just as our internet involvement way back then did not cause a change of venue, neither will our internet involvement now.

Good morning to all :seeya:

I haven't caught up with the thread yet, but just wanted to draw attention to the fact that 15 year old Keiosha Felix from Duson has been missing since April 30th, and this is the first time I have seen it reported on the news! :what:

http://www.katc.com/news/missing-person-15-year-old-keiosha-felix/

I'm guessing this is her, and if not, please edit this part mods: https://www.facebook.com/keiosha.felix?sk=wall

There is something very, very odd going on here. I PERSONALLY checked the missing persons from the Lafayette area going back to January of this year. I checked somewhere around May 20th, or shortly after Mickey went missing. This female was NOT listed, although two girls who are missing and presumed run-aways WERE listed.

Did Keiosha just get reported as missing?

Assuming the Grand Jury believes they have enough evidence to go to trial,, how long will it take to go to trial?

In capital cases, the trial must be commenced within three years from the date of institution of prosecution.

I've stopped coming here for discussion. I just keep coming back to check to see if the subject line has been changed to "found".

*sigh*

That zillow link is not the current house that's on the property today. Just FYI.

" The family of 15-year-old Keiosha Felix told police they've had some contact with the 15-year-old girl. Duson Police tell KATC the girl ran away from home, and has indicated to her family that she is okay. Duson Police are treating this is a runaway case and not a suspicious disappearance. Police do not believe the girl's life is in danger."

I know,...I would love to read those words. I just hope that day gets here.
Hang in**

:)

They stated that the truck was badly burnt but they did not find a gps or human remains in the truck. I read the article on here yesterday but i don't know how to do a link..sorry

I read the same thing, that the fire burned very hot and that no human remains were found in the truck. I'll see if I can find the link, although someone probably will beat me to it since I'm a little behind on the posts right now.

ETA: Yep, someone beat me to it!

That does not suprise me. My family members case took four years from the crime to the punishment phase of the trial
These cases can be terribly drawn out,... I know.
I'm sorry for whatever you/your family had to endure.
I that think many of us are here because we can relate, on some level, and often times that is because of our own life experiences. You're not alone.

I hope that Mickey is brought home, soon.
