Obviously you're not a mitigation specialist lol. :)

I'm not either, but I've worked with them, and I would say, for starters:

--she's been "abused" her whole life, starting with the wooden spoon and ending with mean old Travis

--she's somewhat deranged mentally and doesn't react normally to things

--she was really really in love with Travis and was under tremendous stress because he didn't love her back

--she doesn't remember killing him, so it would be unfair to punish her for it

--her family would be sad if she were put to death, and just when she and her parents were starting to get along...

--this was her very first crime

--no way will she ever kill anyone again--she's over that now

Thanks!

I'll take your word for it, as I have no idea what constitutes a mitigating factor LOL

Please pass the barf bag

I didn't like when JW read the texts, she raised her voice and sounded extra harsh when reading TA's words, but when she read JA's ... she sounded sweet and docile! Sooo see-through. I think JA's responses were very sarcastic, but when read in JW's voice, it doesn't show through.

Another thing with the PTSD test, he only assumes A. She was attacked by strangers or B. She was attacked by TA ... He doesn't testify to the possibility of the actual event (premeditated murder) also having the same result.

Brought over from last thread:

Those texts are NOTHING but a girlfriend and boyfriend having a fight and saying mean things.

I respectfully disagree. First I want to know when those texts were exchanged. I want to see the whole conversation/context. Travis says some pretty incredible stuff... these don't seem like average girlfriend/boyfriend stuff... but frustrated guy/stalker stuff. Granted Travis isn't here to explain, but he wasn't here to explain the phone recordings either. Let the jury read and ruminate on the words of Travis.

PTSD self test. don't tell me we can't fake this to make us all seem like we are suffering. Everyone take the test! And these are samples of the type of questions. Just look at them, I can tell what it wants me to say, and if I say it I'm stressed :)

Here's one she could have answered with an honest YES:

Sensing that your future has shrunk (for example, you don't expect to have a career, marriage, children, or a normal life span)?

Listening to testimony again on HLN. Dr. Samuels is just as slick as Jodi with the quick answers and excuses for everything. He clearly doesn't think that he's anything less than perfect and doesn't want to be contradicted or corrected. Not a humble man, that's for sure. Arrogant, cocky, and self-absorbed just like his jailhouse client.

My DH is officially into the case. He came home and sat down to watch the live stream. Then he looks all worried and I said don't worry, HLN is way behind, you can see Juan tear this guy a new one. YES! He's on board!:floorlaugh::great:

I'm working on mine! He watched for a second today when JM was doing the evisceration. I may get him on board yet!

I think (but haven't checked recently) that the AZ Supreme Court put a stop to the "young age" argument after the age of 30. Was Jodi over 30 at the time of the crime? Or just in her late 20s? I can't recall, and she looks at least 48 now....

I love you! :floorlaugh:

If an ex had a gun on you and made you sit down in the shower or tortured you before this and made you sit in shower where and how would you escape? Cause I believe this is what happened to TA. She has a gun and a big knife...whatcha gonna do..you are seated in a very small space?
Thanks, I agree completely, that's the point I was making. The gunpoint represents restraint same as a rope would. It also removes any possibility of self defense. If she was restraining him to facilitate the attack then she murdered him plain and simple.

Y'know how sports fans remember seemingly obscure stats for various sports?
Same phenomena, different topic ...

Quick ... what date was the phone sex tape created?
How many miles were on the rental car?
What was returned to Darryl at the beginning of the death trip?
What was Bobby Juarez wanting to do in San Francisco?

no idea, lol

This psych doc is really a conundrum. While I don't really believe he is infatuated with JA I think he was very interested in this case and did lean towards the defense since they are footing the bill. I just cannot understand why he would base his diagnosis on a whopping lie and also not have precise notes. All I can come up with is he is arrogant and felt he would not have to prove himself in court. It is very careless to say the least.
I think you're spot on in your assessment. I don't think he based his assessment on Jodi's lie so much as he based it on what he himself wanted it to be.

Don't get me wrong - I believe Jodi gave him the ball and he picked it up and ran with it...but I think he was already hoping it would be PTSD (or something similar) because he wanted a defensive defense iykwim. Without one there's really little he could have testified to, if anything. It's in his best interests too for something to be so broken within Jodi she's not fully culpable of her actions.

For me, and I'm likely very biased myself, this transcends unprofessional conduct, carelessness, or even just a partial evaluation and goes straight into red hot danger zone. When you have a professional disregard testing protocols, then disregard the assessments altogether, accept deceit in turn without qualifying his opinion, and completely disregard symptomology consistent with a whole host of disorders - including cluster B personality disorders - and that opinion, and testimony, could free someone who is quite likely, imo, to kill again...

I guess it becomes a perverse, nightmarish scenario altogether for me. It's doctors like him who should be pledged to protecting people like us from creatures like her - not the other way around.

But that's JMO.

Thanks for the response. In what way are the heights and weights wrong? Also I realize some think there were no ropes including my wife. The testimony says there was albeit from the lying defendant. If there were ropes, why would she take only them and the gun from the scene?

That's just it.. there is nothing whatsoever to corroborate that there ever was any rope there that day..and certainly nothing at all to indicate the killer took the nonexistent rope with her.. the killer fabricated the entire rope into her story for the simple reason to account for their being a knife in the bedroom/bathroom.. these are all lies..a knife from Travis' home was not used to slaughter him.. the nonexistent knife from TA's kitchen was used to cut the nonexistent rope for the simple reason of introducing the lie that the knife used to kill him was NOT BROUGHT WITH THE KILLER.. TRUTH IS THE KNIFE WAS BROUGHT WITH THE KILLER, JUST LIKE THE GUN WAS..

There was never a rope involved that day, so no rope was taken by the killer when she left.. the killer left with exactly that which she came, the knife and the gun that she used to slaughter Travis..

HTH:)

Wow, Stephanie. I got the SAME RESULTS merely by following my "yes yes yes yes yes" lying strategy. :what: We must be geniuses according to Dr. S.

Hope no one minds, just wanted some insight on this, moved over from end of last thread. I haven't been able to watch all of the trial. I have a question that maybe some of you can help me with. I am pretty much the same height and weight as TA but 20 years older. I can think of no way a 115 pound female could stab me 29 times unless I was physically restrained. After the first stab, I would be in fight for survival mode. I might not survive, but she would surely be at least seriously injured if not killed. You might get stabbed once if it was from behind. The second stab would be a glancing blow as you turned towards your attacker. There wouldn't be a 3rd stab wound except maybe a defensive wound to the hands or forearms. I would think any 200 pound man could incapacitate any 115 pound woman with a single blow. From that point it would go very badly for the smaller incapacitated attacker. I believe the gunshot was forensically proven to have occurred after the stabbings. But even at that a .25 pistol is not immediately debilitating under most circumstances. It makes me wonder if that's why JA removed the ropes from the scene. Were they used in the commission of the crime? Was TA tied up either as sex play or at gunpoint before the knife attack occurred?

IMO because the first wound was the stab to the chest. He was dying and staggering away from her. First to the sink and then down the hall.
