After a holiday break, the murder trial of Bampumim Teixeira resumes today. Here’s where we left off:
Back on the stand this morning is Lt. Det. Daniel Duff. He processed the crime scene.
Prosecutor John Pappas is going through the evidence collected at the murder scene. He just pulled out a pair of handcuffs. Duff says each victim was bound with them.
Duff says on the handcuffs there was all kinds of cleaning products, shampoo and vegetable oil.
While each victim was found dead in different bedrooms, Duff says there were reddish-brown stains in the master bath. He says he found those stains on the wall and the edge of the tub.
Duff says bottles of fabric softener and bleach were found open in the apt and they were emptied on the victims and floors.
Duff says in the kitchen he found a large silver knife, reddish-brown stains, hair and a wallet belonging to Dr. Lina Bolanos. Her license and credit cards were inside.
Pappas just pulled out a large black backpack and asks Duff about it. He says it was found on the floor by the penthouse door and was very heavy.
Defense attorney Steve Sack gets up to cross examine Duff.
Sack asks Duff how they process reddish-brown stains. He answers the stains were swabbed.
After Duff told the jury he recovered shell casings in the apt. Now Sack is asking about how many shell casings there were. Sack asks “7 in the apt? 4 in the lobby?” Duff answers “yes”
Sack asks more about bullet holes, spent bullets and bullet fragments. Teixeira was shot by police on May 5, 2017.
