Identified! MA - Provincetown, Race Point, 'Lady in the Dunes' WhtFem 27-49, UP11840, Jul'74 - Ruth Marie Terry

I'm very new here so I apologize if I'm doing this wrong, but what about Carol Rodriguez as a possible match https://www.findthemissing.org/en/cases/23624/

Fits the age range, and timeline if she were perhaps abducted and held for a year. Also, since PMI was not specified it's possible she was killed somewhat quickly after disappearance

Height: Carol 65"/Doe 66"
Carol Brown w/ blonde highlights/Doe auburn (blonde highlights may have made hair appear lighter than it was, also being in the sun during the summer can lighten hair)
Carol has similar facial structure IMO (pointed chin, long nose)
Carol missing from Mass

Also, as an aside, how accurate is hair color usually considered to be?

I don't know how to post pictures but when viewing LOID on The Lost and Found Site there's a colored composite with a blue background that looks very similar to Carol.

You don't need kidnap scenarios. There's nothing to indicate that Rodriguez died at the time she disappeared. She could have been on the road or living elsewhere for that time.

I emailed in Carol Rodriguez as a possible match. The DOE network has a different contact email for this case, but I found Meredith Lobur as the contact person on the Provincetown MA website and she responded to my email less than 24 hours after I sent it. This is her email mlobur@provincetown-ma.gov.

As an aside, she also was very grateful for the work that we do and for giving them possible matches.

New to this thread--and I'm not that familiar with Lady of the Dunes' case. But I found a woman on NamUs today who I believe to be an interesting possible, Lynne "Mitzi" Brown.

Lynne disappeared her children were murdered. She is considered the prime suspect in the murder of her 2 children; her car was found at the scene of their murder and contained gun shells and a receipt for the revolver.
https://www.findthemissing.org/en/cases/33109/1

- Lynne went missing in April of 1974, 3 months before Lady of the Dunes' discovery.
- Lady of the Dunes' hands had been cut off, possibly because her killer knew of her having a criminal record--Lynne Brown had been incarcerated before. (In fact, the picture used for her NamUs profile is a cropped version of a 1974 mug shot).
- She would have been 26/27 at the time of Lady of the Dunes' death.
- Her hair resembles the hairstyle/color depicted in many of the recons.

That being said, the height and weight is inconsistent (Lynne Brown's 5'2 and 110 lbs. as to Lady of the Dunes' 5'6 and 145 lbs.; although height can be off, but is not typically 4'' off).

I found the name of a missing woman from the 70's from Easton, Massachusetts who isn't listed anywhere except this one mention in an article.

http://patch.com/massachusetts/easton-ma/shadows

Her name is Hildame Scott. Maybe some of you will be more successful in finding info on her?

Judy Blieler (also mentioned in the article) has information held by local police but isn't on any national lists that are publicly available (not that I'm aware of anyway). I'm guessing Ms. Scott might be the same. Easton is notorious for being a place secrets go to die. (I probably should phrase that more tactfully, but...)

Here's my rendering based on a skull photograph with the tissue markers. Through my research, I found that they originally thought she could have been as young as twenty and mine makes her look closer to the younger side of the age range.

Reminder to self: recheck the names mentioned above. Massachusetts is entering a whole bunch of old cases into Namus and there might benew useful information.

if she has been posted I apologize But I came across
Betty Marie Roberts and thought her stats fit and what struck me was that Betty had a tattoo that was right underneath her elbow. The lady of the dunes her hands were severed and missing but only one of her arms were cut just below the elbow.

The part that still confuses me is the dismemberment to conceal her identity. She was nearly decapitated. They never recovered her hands. One hand was severed from the wrist and the other removed from the elbow.

The Lady in the Dunes had extensive dental work and some teeth removed by the killer. Betty Roberts had dentures. I think that's enough to rule her out, unfortunately. She did look promising.

The lady's Namus page now includes all the reconstructions that have been done over the years. Also two ruleouts (we know this is incomplete).

The following people have been ruled out as being this decedent:
First Name Last Name Year of Birth State LKA

Frances Ewalt 1949 Montana
Vicke Lamberton 1949 Massachusetts

oh crap I was so fixed on the tattoo and the arm missing I totally missed the dentures ugh.. thank you carbuff!!

I do think there must of been a tattoo or noticeable birthmark or scar or something for only that arm to be missing with the hands!

Yes, I think you're right about an identifying mark. And Betty really does resemble the dunes lady Definitely a good try.

There is a new brainscratch episode going over some theories regarding this poor doe

It's one of my favorite channels because he's always trying to bring attention to unsolved cases and missing persons.

What in the world is "New York Style" dentistry? I tried Googling it and I'm not finding it anywhere except where it's mentioned in relation to this case.
I only yesterday started looking at this case, but I wonder if they've published this in any Dental Journal or similar publication that all Dentists receive through a professional organization.
Heck if someone did a story in one of those magazines about how a dentist could help solve this huge mystery might be a good idea.
Someone has this lady's file in their stacks.
Forgive me if this has already been done, I have only read about a dozen articles so far and none have mentioned this tactic.

Does anyone know if the case files can be obtained through the FOIA? Or are the records sealed?
