So, police are still saying they don't believe Gilbert's death is related to the serial killings...and we've pretty much exhausted our discussions about Gilbert IMO...

So lets get back to the other victims again for a bit.

I've always been intrigued with the Massapequa factor.

Barthelemy's voicemail was checked from somewhere in Massapequa the day the disappeared. She had also been at a motel in Massapequa.

The serial killer's calls to Barthelemy's sister were traced to Manhattan and Massapequa.

I know that surely police checked all Massapequa sex offenders out...but in looking at the list...one surely stands out if you look at his place of employment.

From the New York Sex Offender Registry - these are all the offenders from the Massapequa 11758 zip code

    http://www.criminaljustice.ny.gov/S...rue&LastName=&County=&Zip=11758&Submit=Search

and from that list take a closer look at Lorne Kubat

    http://www.criminaljustice.ny.gov/SomsSUBDirectory/offenderDetails.jsp?offenderid=20644

He resides in Massapequa but works in Manhattan

    https://maps.google.com/maps?q=247+...hnear=247+W+35th+St,+New+York,+10001&t=m&z=15

This is just a few blocks from the Port Authority and its right there at the 34th St Penn Station which is one of the areas the killer's calls were traced to.

Could it be that simple? A registered sex offender?

    Kubat is also an ex-cop

interesting stuff----i think massapequa should have discussion--can't see him as lisk----he likes them young--preferential offender--the thing that would stand out with him in reference to the victimology of the GB4 would be the small stature of the GB4 vics, 3 in general, similar size as it would relate to a minor victim

I couldn't quote you Mrs PC but I do however believe that we need to explore more options. It could be that simple. I honestly believe that when this/these perps are/if apprehended they will be someone/s we never even thunk (sic) of!

but perhaps he used his old badge and pretended to be "undercover" and used that to gain their confidence before striking--could be how he got MBB when she was in trouble and needed a ride? conned her into going with him?--maybe same with the other hotel grab?-came upon MW as she was walking to the store through the parking lot that night, pretended to be a cop and asking her what she was doing there, and offered her a ride?

Kubat's home in Massapequa is only 2 miles from the Best Western & about 3 miles from the Budget Inn. 2 of the calls made from Barthelemy's phone were traced to these motels.

Waterman was at a Holiday Inn Express in Hauppage...I think he was just saying if the killer pretended to be a cop that she may have let her guard down and gone with him.

I have also been on the New York Sex Offender Registry. I went through and eliminated all the Pedophiles and those who did not fit the "profile", those who were in jail at the time of at least one of the murders, ect.... I have my notes at home and I will check if his name is on my short list. I got it down to 60, then to around 12 for my final list. If he is, then we have two independent sleuthers who have come up with the same guy. That would be a great start.

I can say now, I have him on my long list, but he didn't make the short list due to the type of crimes. Pedophile, non-stranger victim(s). It seems to me that such sentence is too low to be a violent offender.

May I suggest that we all go through the regestry independently and everyone come up with a top 10 and we all compare them and see if we have some stand out matches.

    http://nl.newsbank.com/nl-search/we/Archives

before that he lived about 5 miles or less east of Hauppauge in Ronkonkoma

one of the articles states he had retired from the police force with an injury in approx 2002

True, but I noticed a big trend on the list. There are a lot of pedo's on there. So I would look at the charge and the penalty to determine the severity of the crime. My system was to narrow it down to the violent criminals. You will run across a few violent criminals on there, and a few who were released prior to the GB4 murders. That was my criteria. If different people use different factors and we still get a match, then might be on to something.

since this is the massapequa thread, the "other pimp" we know from MW's case is tied to these motels as well--perhaps a tighter link to massapequa

Great thread topic, Mrs.Pc. I've always been convinced that our guy has ties to Massapequa, and that if we could just zero in on something there, it would lead us straight to him. I never even thought of the sex offender angle, I'm ashamed to say.
