Reporting now no carriages in the water. CNN are saying two have died, other journalists on twitter saying 4.

I'm really shocked there aren't any on the scene cameras there yet. It happened at line 7:20. I hope nobody I know was on that train.

Governor: 4 dead, 63 hurt in NYC train derailment

    DEEPTI HAJELA, AP

NEW YORK (AP) — A Metro-North train derailed on a curved section of track in the Bronx on Sunday morning, coming to rest just inches from the water and leaving four people dead and 63 injured, authorities said.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced the deaths at a news conference at the site of the crash near the Spuyten Duyvil station. He said authorities believe everyone at the site has been accounted for and that the National Transportation Safety Board is en route.

Eleven people are believed to be in critical condition, authorities said. The train operator was among the injured, Cuomo said...

67 people injured, police chief says

The operator told investigators he applied brakes, but the commuter train didn't slow down, a law enforcement official told CNN.

I am watching live, and there are divers in the water.

The train originated in Poughkeepsie and was headed to Grand Central. It was not scheduled to stop at the Spuyten Duyvil station.

Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said there are divers in the Hudson River because there is a concern that passengers may have been ejected into the water.

For anyone looking for information on family members on the train, Cuomo said to call 311 or 212-NEW-YORK.

John F. Kennedy High School at 99 Terrace View Avenue in the Bronx has been established as a family center. Family members who are seeking information can call 718-817-7444.

Police divers were in the water hours after the crash searching for survivors, and cadaver dogs combed the wreckage. Authorities believe all the passengers have been accounted for, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo told reporters.

    snips:

"I was sitting in the first seat in the front of the car facing backwards," Jackson said. "I was flung six feet. I landed on the shattered window (on the side of the train that hit the ground). I was lying on my back, gravel was flying everywhere. I was dragging along the ground. ... Maybe it was a minute, it felt like an eternity, I just wanted it to stop. ... I had gravel in my teeth, I was eating rocks. But I was grateful to be eating rocks because I'm still alive."
Afterward, there was chaos inside the train cars.

"My face scraped on the side of the train," said Kathleen Jones, 60, a nurses’ aid heading to work from Poughkeepsie. "We were going so fast around that turn, something wasn't right. All the sudden everyone went flying. We were dragging on the ground, people were landing on each other. Then there was dirt everywhere."
"I saw one lady that looked like her neck was stuck in the window," Jones said. "I don't ever want to take the train again."

"It was dark, but you could see people were asking everyone if they were OK ... it was smoky, the entire thing was filled with dust ... it was awful, we're lucky to be alive," O'Neill said
"All of the sudden we were just on our side. And there was a crash and dragging. A lot of people got cut by glass from the windows," he continued. "The firefighters helped us out through the top, obviously they helped the people who were the worst off first. We had to climb on the seats and railings to get out.”
