I'm requesting a link to the very interesting photo you're discussing, please. TIA
JIC, you're unaware, for future purposes, as a general rule at WS, when a screen capture is posted, a link is always required unless the link has been provided on numerous occasions. This case has so few links that they've not been posted copiously.

----------------------

Dr. Hoover owned a vintage Bentley. I rather doubt the killer stole and abandoned the good doctor's antique Bentley but rather, they absconded with a newer model vehicle typically used by DH traveling to work, etc.

A link, a link ... there are several times I have seen that photo in news articles ... here is one:

Looking at Google maps for the street view, I think that is where some of the news stories got their photo that shows the three items lying on the sidewalk.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Now, why would the news take a photo from July of 2022 in google maps and present it as if it's modern day history? This SS is what I see when following the google link you've kindly provided. I must've walked past it on maps a half dozen times when searching for a driveway or alleyway.

Well, I had first zoomed in on that something on the sidewalk when I saw the news article and wondered seriously what the heck is that and why is no one else saying anything about it? That was when I first started looking at all the Google street maps, going back a number of years to when the good doctor bought the place. I've never noticed so many views going back so many years for any other property on Google maps but imagine this is a busy route.

I'm guessing that's an old stock photo and it's honestly just trash - covid mask, a glove maybe. It's cold in Detroit.

I don't think the items on the sidewalk have any relation to the good doctor's demise either, Az. What's so difficult and disheartening, is that the Detroit Police feel they know who committed this evil act but the prosecutor doesn't think, with the evidence presented, thus far, they have a case that will result in a successful conviction. The news has reported that the investigators gave their reports to the DA so this is not an opinion solely of my own. It is the DA's determination. The investigators need to go back to the drawing board and find more evidence.

The killer cannot have a solid alibi or they'd never have been named as a POI. Someone needs to break their confidence so the truth will become known.

For personal reasons, I've been greatly and deeply impacted by the loss of this magnificent neurosurgeon.<modsnip> known suspects of murder until they gave a full and accurate confession. Without that possibility, I shall wait for Justice for Devon Hoover, MD.

Thought this story might be of interest. It was initially reported that Dr. Devon Hoover was shot in the head and then the medical examiner updated that to multiple times shot in the head.

I don't find it strange that LE initially said that DH died from one gunshot to the head, and then the medical examiner found that there were several gunshots to the head.

The cases you quote sound like the issue was a change in the cause of death from murder to suicide, which is very different than this case. Unless I didn't read it correctly.

I believe they will find the evidence that they need, ultimately, and there will be justice for DH and his family.

But I agree with you otherwise (<modsnip> and it is disheartening at this stage,

I hope there is justice, he saved people. To take from the earth his wealth of knowledge and experience… depressing. Justice for DH

Thanks for sharing DeDee. Not sure what was snipped but I sense it was special and personal.

It is so very early still in this investigation and we have to keep every hope that LE is working and will continue to work to find the evidence they need. Being patient is hard but we have rules and laws and thresholds and standards that must be met for a successful prosecution. We're here, waiting and cheering for justice with you.

Looks like it's Detroit Rewards TV providing the $1000 reward funds.
Doesn't Crime Stoppers typically place rewards of $1000, too? Here's the answer:

This meager amount will not motivate people to action but it's a start. I'll gladly contribute if his friends and associates begin a fundraiser for the reward to be increased.

Devon's family may not be able to settle his estate for up to a year unless he left a notarized and filed will plus a person with a power of attorney that's notarized. Otherwise, the estate must go thru probate court which is a slow and arduous task for family members. I believe they've hired, since the break-in, a security officer for his beautiful home to remain guarded. All - jmo

Detroit — A 53-year-old neurosurgeon was shot twice in the back of the head before his body, naked other than a sock on the right foot, was "covered with a comforter, sheet and rug," and entombed in an upper crawlspace of his spacious Detroit home, according to autopsy results released Wednesday.

Dr. Devon Hoover's body was discovered April 23 by Detroit police officers who were performing a welfare check at his home in the 100 block of the city's historic Boston-Edison district, where he reportedly lived alone.

"The decedent was found nude and prone in a crawlspace in his home covered with a comforter, sheet and rug. ... clothing consisted of a sock on the right foot," according to a Wayne County Medical Examiner's autopsy report that ruled Hoover's death a homicide...

This case makes me feel so sad- This man was such a good and decent person in addition to being a good doctor (neurosurgeon). His death was brutal and torturous and I hope and pray the killer is found sooner than later. I hope the reward is increased as well.

Detroit neurosurgeon shot twice in the head from behind, autopsy finds

Detroit Police are asking tipsters to pass along information anonymously at http://detroitrewards.tv, and to include the case number, 2304230294. Tips may also be phoned in to Crime Stoppers of Michigan at (800) SPEAK-UP (773-2587

Also from the link to DetroitNews you've kindly posted:

"The abrasions indicate that he was face-down with his left lower face against a firm surface for at least one of the gunshot wounds, and that his body was dragged in the prone position after his death."

"Fingernail clippings and samples for a ra** kit were obtained and retained," the report said.

Oh, I find myself sickened by the crushing pain this man endured at the hands of his killer. jmhoo

On the Facebook site, I was confused about "attic" and "crawl space." He was found within an attic crawl space, probably off to a side in a wing of his house.

As one could expect, the rumor mill is spinning wildly, and all I'm going to say is that no matter what happened, none of us are perfect people and everyone has done things they shouldn't have done. Let's allow the police and courts to do their job, and announce relevant things when they happen.
