Kalamazoo Shooting Suspect Was an Uber Driver Who Picked Up Riders Between Killings, Reports Say
I would like to know more about the victims before I can agree that they weren't targeted for any other reason than being there.
Oh, I am happy he didn't have more victims, but he was on a 6 hour rampage. He had to pass numerous other people. What made him target these specific people? And why did he not target the man in his car?
We know age and gender didn't play a role. And it appears the two shot at the car lot were father/son and I would assume the group in the car at Cracker Barrel were family, the woman he shot was with her children... was he targeting families?
I think he just shot whoever was around after he dropped off his fares. Totally random.

KALAMAZOO, Mich. -
A gunman believed to have killed at least six people in Kalamazoo County is in custody.
The shooter chose random victims in the parking lots of a western Michigan apartment complex, car dealership and restaurant, killing six people during a nearly five-hour rampage and leaving a 14-year-old girl in critical condition, authorities said. Another person is seriously injured.
Jason Brian Dalton, 45, of Kalamazoo County, was arrested early Sunday in downtown Kalamazoo following a massive manhunt after the shootings began early Saturday evening, the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety Chief Jeff Hadley said...
This is insane. Not 10 minutes ago I was considering going to visit my son and his girl friend for a nice Sunday afternoon, good food, a few drinks. Thing is, after the few drinks LE might frown on my driving home. I was actually considering doing the "Uber" thing. I'd had a few doubts/misgivings before, but now I will never go that route.

4 of the victims killed in the Kalamazoo shooting identified[/h]
Mary Lou Nye, 62, of Baroda
Mary Jo Nye, 60, of Battle Creek
Dorothy Brown, 74, of Battle Creek
Barbara Hawthorne, 68, of Battle Creek
So of the 6 people said to be killed we have:
1. a 8-year-old girl.
2. Mary Lou Nye, 62, of Baroda
3. Mary Jo Nye, 60, of Battle Creek
4. Dorothy Brown, 74, of Battle Creek
5. Barbara Hawthorne, 68, of Battle Creek
6. [Tyler Daniel] Smith, 17,
7. Richard Eugene Smith, 53
Hmm... Something doesn't add up. What about this 8 year old girl? (discussed in my first post).
I think that may have been a rumor.
This is horrible. Who does this? I feel so badly for all those that lost loved ones during this "person's" rampage. Senseless. Prayers to the young girl that is in critical condition and hope she pulls through. Prayers sent.
From the Kalamazoo Gazette/mlive:
The first shooting occurred at the Meadows Townhomes complex, 5066 Meadows Blvd. around 6 p.m. There, a woman was shot in the parking lot. She is in serious condition.
A second shooting occurred at Seelye Ford, 4102 Stadium Drive, shortly before 10:30 p.m., where two people were shot and killed in the parking lot. The two killed at the dealership were both male, and are believed to be a father and son who were looking at a vehicle, Kalamazoo Public Safety Chief Jeff Hadley told WWMT.
Around 10:30 p.m., four people were shot and killed in vehicles in the parking lot of Cracker Barrel, 5581 Cracker Barrel Blvd., off of 9th Street in Texas Township. Another person, a 14-year-old girl, was critically injured at later died at a local hospital.
Note: The 14-year old girl is in critical condition, but still alive.

Shooter didn't harm his own family, thank goodness. He has a wife and two children.
Lengthy, detailed report on the Kalamazoo shooting rampage:
I'm guessing the Mary Nye's are related and were together, because if not that's one hell of a coincidence.
Mary Lou and Mary Jo were college roommates at Western Michigan University. Mary Lou met and married Mary Jo's brother. Mary Jo was unmarried.
