MORRIS — The Morris Police Department is assisting in trying to find a man from Michigan that was reported missing and made a stop in Morris.

Terry E. Brown, 45, was reported missing to the Montague, Michigan, Police Department on Dec. 12, according to a Facebook page post.

Brown resides in Montague but he was temporarily working in Washington State. He reportedly left Washington on Nov. 28 to return home.

It seems under circumstances his car was located but not Terry.

11/28/17 he contacted his estranged wife, told her he was going to come back to Michigan. He left Washington, it is believed he left WA on that date. On 11/30/17 at 5:30 PM near Morris, IL a 911 call came in that on the E/B exit ramp of I-80 and Seneca Rd. a car (belonging to Brown) was backing down the ramp into a the deep ditch. His vehicle was not found until 12/8/17. Keys were in the ignition, and the vehicle was left in drive. He was not within it.

ID released for body found in Seneca pond

The Grundy County Coroner's Office released the name of a man whose body was found Thursday afternoon in a private pond near U.S. 6 and Seneca Road.

Terry Edward Brown, 45, from Michigan was identified through tattoos and physical evidence on the body, the press release read. The coroner's office said that Brown's vehicle was discovered in a ditch near the scene in early December.

The circumstances around the accident or death are still unclear.

"When we have a death investigation such as this death where there are no witnesses, it is difficult to pinpoint the actions of the Mr. Brown," Grundy County Coroner John Callahan said via press release Friday. "What we do know is Mr. Brown’s death is a drowning pending toxicology tests."

This incident remains under investigation.

How does someone call 911 about a car backing into a ditch (which in this case is swampy and filled with cattails) and LE don't go out to investigate?! Furthermore, how do they run the plates and not get he is a missing person, the search the area?

I am really sorry for his friends and family it took this long. The retention pond sits just yards away from the ramp behind a fence. My guess is he had a medical emergency or was on drugs and ran into the field/pond intentionally. It is weird how many cases we see where someone exits a running car on the highway and is found nearby like this.
