MI MI - Tiane Brown, 33, Detroit, 29 October 2013

I have been searching everyday for an update on Tiane's case. Nothing. Nothing about charges (re: stolen property) being reinstated against Robert Windsor. Nothing about an investigation into her murder. Nothing.

DETROIT -
Detroit police have released pictures and video of two men they are looking for in connection with the shooting death of a Wayne State University law student and mother of three.

Police are not calling the men in the pictures suspects in Tiane Brown's death, but said they may have information...

Thanks, Bette, for the update. I checked on the 24th and there was still nothing. Glad to see that LE is still on the case. I have to say though, it will be like pulling a rabbit out of a hat if anyone recognizes those two men. The video quality and angles are horrible.

No reports as of yet about any leads coming from the video. No surprise there, imo, since you can't see a darn thing!

Family of slain Wayne State student trying to find closure

George Hunter/The Detroit News

Detroit — Tiane Brown’s daughters enjoyed an evening of dancing at a recent family wedding reception — a rare happy occasion amid months of pain and trauma.

“The children are living with their grandmother and me, and they’re adjusting about as well as you could hope,” said Nate Jones, stepfather of the Wayne State University law student whose body was found Oct. 30, still strapped in the seat belt in her SUV.

Brown, the mother of girls ages 2, 8 and 15, had been shot once in the head, in what police believe was not a random killing...

Crime Stoppers is offering a $5,000 reward for tips that lead to Brown’s killer... “Unfortunately, the tips aren’t coming in like they were,” Detroit Police Sgt. Michael Woody said. “But it’s still an active case. Our investigators are doing what they can to develop leads, and hopefully arrest the person responsible and get a prosecution”...

The day after police discovered Brown’s body, they arrested two men, Michael Booker, 41, and Robert Windsor, 34, who were in possession of Brown’s cellphone. They faced various charges, although investigators said they didn’t believe the two men were involved with her death.

In November, Police Chief James Craig said investigators believed Brown likely knew her killer or killers. The following month, police released photos and videos taken from a gas station surveillance camera, showing two men, described as “persons of interest,” who had used Brown’s credit card shortly before midnight on Oct. 29, a few hours after she was last seen.

I was hopeful the video would have led to SOMETHING. I hope her babies are doing well.

I can't believe her case hasn't been solved! This beautiful woman and her babies need justice.

Just looking for an update on Tiane's murder. I found an article (and great video) from last year which talks about past restraining orders against an ex-husband and a dispute about a car and visitation with an ex-boyfriend. The reporter also said there was evidence left in the car that was being processed by the crime lab. One would think that results would be back by now!

Family and friends say they don't know who could have killed Tiane, but some tell the 7 Action News Investigators that at times her relationship with both her ex-husband and her ex-boyfriend had been turbulent.

Tiane got two Personal Protection Orders, or PPOs, against the ex-husband in 2001 and in 2005: both times saying he beat her and threatened to kill her.

Tiane also tried to get a third PPO against him in 2007… writing in the PPO petition that the ex told her "I can never hide from him. He was going to kill me…" and kill whoever she was dating. The judge denied the PPO because Tiane did not show up in court.

In recent years, Tiane had also taken an ex-boyfriend to court over ownership of a car and parenting time with her youngest daughter.

Despite that, Tiane's parents say none of her relationships made them fear for her safety.

Watching the video and seeing all that Tiane had accomplished and what her future held reiterates what a senseless crime this was and how many people were left in its wake.

Two articles from this year...

According to the Detroit News, Brown's mother said police "have an idea" who committed the crime but need more information before an arrest can be made.

Wayne State University Police Chief Anthony Holt said he could not immediately confirm if a suspect or suspects had been identified.

The mother of three girls had been shot once in the head in what police believe was not a random killing.

"(The police) basically tell me that they have some ideas as far as who may have done it," Sheryl Jones, Brown's mother, said Tuesday during the press conference. "They don't have enough evidence to make an arrest so they're trying to get more evidence because it's too circumstantial right now."
