Circumstances of Discovery​

The victim was found in a canal .75 miles west of Allapatha Drive.

The photos found in the wallet were of a young man and woman living in Goulds and Princeton, respectively. They were unable to identify the victim.

Since it had no ID perhaps he found the wallet and kept it to return it to the owner... or the "young man and woman" didn't want anything to do with him.
I wish we had more details... like, for example, how was LE able to identify and locate the people in the photos?

Other possibilities:
He could have stolen the wallet and not remove the pics.
He could have bought the wallet at a thrift shop or charity shop not noticing the pics.
The wallet may have just been found close to him but there was no connection.

I lean towards the second one - I'm not sure how common it was in 1961 but I've certainly found trinkets and such in thrifted items.

This type of scar makes me think knife attack but it could be as simple as scratching your ear on a tree branch.

If they could distinguish a scar on the ear, why is there no drawing, sketch, etc of his face? It would seem with "Decomposing/putrefaction" they'd be in a 2 week +/- window to be able to have some idea of what he looked like.

They were able to get fingerprints so the remains couldn't have been too degraded.

The location where the JD was found is very close to Goulds and Princeton.
I know the woman and the man told detectives they didn't know the JD but, did the detectives ask them if they recognized the photos? When they were taken and who had them?
Hard to believe the woman and the man didn't know the poor man... Very sad.
