Rochester Police Seek Help Locating Endangered Missing Person Jodi Boeckermann

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — The Rochester Police Department says a 64-year-old woman is missing and believed to be endangered.

According to police, Jodi Boeckermann left her home in northwest Rochester alone on Oct. 15 in her silver 2004 Pontiac Grand Am, with Minnesota license plates CNV037. Her direction or destination is unknown.

Police say Boeckermann has some health conditions and it is possible she does not have any of her medications with her at this time.

Boeckermann is described as 5-foot-6 with grey hair and brown eyes.

This one is strange. Almost like she completely disappeared. I'm not able to find any social media posts from a family looking for her, no new updates from police either.

This poor lady with health conditions leaves on October 15 and isn't reported missing until November 9? Nobody was concerned?

"The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) has issued an endangered missing person advisory for a Rochester woman who hasn't been seen since last month.

Jodi Boeckermann, 64, left her home at about 2:45 p.m. on Oct. 15, the BCA says. Rochester police were then called on Nov. 9 about a missing person report regarding Boeckermann. Police then learned Boeckermann suffers from some health conditions and she may not have her medications".

Like everyone else I couldn't find anything either, but I did see this from 2011:

Mildly interesting that Namus reports 10/15 in circumstances of disappearance (as does original news report from 11/17) but also shows:

Date of Last Contact
October 16, 2021

Typo, or was she heard from the next day?

Aug 23, 2022 article: Adventurers With Purpose needed help from their followers . . . and they got it. On mission to find Ms Boeckermann, but doesn’t appear they were able to on this trip.

[…]

On Aug. 11, 2022, Oregon-based search and recovery dive team Adventures With Purpose was traveling to Rochester to search for Jodi Boeckermann, a Rochester woman who went missing on Oct. 15, 2021 , when their trailer broke down on U.S. Highway 14.

[…]

With the trailer fixed, Bjerke said the Adventures With Purpose team spent Sunday, Aug. 14 looking for Jodi Boeckermann in Rochester. While the dive team will post a video about their search in a few weeks, Bjerke urged anyone with information about Boeckermann to reach out. The Rochester Police Department can be reached at 507-328-6800.

This case has really bothered me ever since I first learned about it from Adventures with Purpose. It seemed like they were suggesting that Jodi may have gone off on purpose to self-harm, possibly due to depression over her husband's recent passing. However, they were divorced and he had remarried back in 2015 according to his obituary, so that doesn't seem like a likely scenario to me, IMO.

They mentioned her leaving her kitten in her apartment with no food, and that really doesn't seem like the action of someone who was intending to take her own life. I just can't imagine any animal lover abandoning their pet to starve like that. (Thankfully, the cat was still alive when it was found!) She also apparently took a meal to go from her favorite restaurant on the day she went missing, and I also can't imagine someone going off to take her own life and deciding she needs to bring an extra meal along with her while she does it. It seems most likely to me that she was either intending to make it back home with that food after running some unknown errand and something unexpected happened, or she was taking the food to someone else and something unexpected happened on the way.

The other thing that really bothered me about the AWP video was that they mentioned her being alone in the world with no family because her daughter had passed back in 2004. But according to her daughter's obituary, she was one of two children and Jodi also has a son, Cameron. Perhaps she and Cameron were estranged and that's why she was considered to be 'alone'? I wish they had mentioned the son and shed some light on the relationship there. He was easy to find online and appears to live and work in the area. She might have even been taking that extra meal to drop off for her son. AWP centered their search around Jodi's apartment and her favorite restaurant where she was last seen that day, but if she were going to visit her son or even stop by her daughter's grave and had an accident en route, she could be underwater in a location much further away from her home. I hope they go back and revisit this case because I think about Jodi often.

AWP should have an accurate case history, no doubt about that. But I think they believe it could have been a self-harm scenario because her husband died almost exactly 1 year to the day before she went missing - and of course there's the 'last meal' theory: She stopped and ordered food to go from her favorite BBQ restaurant (where she was a regular customer), and she took 2 Long Island iced teas (which are very strong drinks) with her as well - after which she disappeared. I'm not sure I buy the self-harm theory here as like you said, she had the cat at home.

So, did she normally drink 2 Long Island iced teas when she got her BBQ? What was her exact food order; was it different from her last order there, or was it all food for one person (like, ribs and pulled chicken in one container, and fries, coleslaw and cornbread in the other; or, does she order so she'd have leftovers - that's something I do when I order from my favorite restaurant), or two (like her son or someone she had met)?

Buying 2 strong drinks could suggest she was going to meet someone and was bring them a drink too (did her son drink?), or else she wanted to get thoroughly intoxicated. I love Long Island iced tea, but the last time I had 2 (one after another) was in college in the 80's, and I was really drunk. Now her body does have a bigger frame, so generally, it would take more alcohol to get her drunk than say, a woman who was 5'0" tall and 100lbs. But I still think these drinks would have hit her hard, especially if she were drinking on the way home.

Or, is her vehicle in a ditch on the side of the road someplace? AWP cleared a lot of lakes, and there are no leads in this case at all - literally absolutely nothing. So at some point it would be good to consider foul play. The considerations against that are she mainly kept to herself - people in that area had no idea who she even was.

Not sure if this is okay to post, but since it is from the MN Crime Facebook page...

ROCHESTER: Rescue crews have recovered a body from inside a submerged vehicle near the 4000 block of 19th St. NW., outside a concrete plant in an industrial area of northwest Rochester. The occupant was confirmed deceased inside, and an updated Google Earth image appears to show the vehicle submerged in the shallow pond.
The identity of the person has not yet been publicly confirmed, but a missing persons report said 64-year-old Jodi Boeckermann was last seen in this general area in October 2021 and was believed to be driving a silver Pontiac Grand Am. More information is expected within the coming days.

I need to go back and double check if Adventures with Purpose checked this particular pond. They were in Rochester, MN, last year looking for her. Picture included is an updated Google Earth image where the car seems to be visible. I'm hoping it is Jodi. She needs to come home.

“All indications are the person inside the vehicle is our missing person, Jodi Boeckermann,” Rochester Police Capt. Casey Moilanen said.

Her identification was found inside the car, which belonged to her. RPD is waiting for confirmation by the medical examiner’s office.

I'm really glad she's been found.
It bothers me though that there might be more cars visible on google earth right now that could solve some of the 700+ cases like these :c

I'm so relieved she has finally been found and now can be laid to rest with her daughter. Rest peacefully, Jodi.
