Update: Investigators Find Remains of Missing Alberta Woman Buried in Her Backyard

STEVENS COUNTY, Minn. (KSAX) - The bodily remains of Tamara Mason were found buried in the backyard of her Alberta home.

A Mason had been missing since December 27, 2010, according to Stevens County Sheriff Randy Willis.

Willis confirmed to KSAX Friday morning that authorities began digging up the body sometime Thursday in the backyard of missing woman Tamara Mason.

Sheriff Willis said that the Stevens County Sheriff's Office has actively been searching for Mason since she was reported missing on December 27.

The Steven's County Sheriff's Office had no leads in the case until sometime in May when information led authorities to believe foul play was involved. The Bureau of Criminal Apprehension was then called to assist in the investigation.

Willis would not yet say how authorities had learned of the buried body in Mason's backyard.

Alberta Teens Admit to Killing Mother, Hiding Body after 'Yahtzee' Dispute

STEVENS COUNTY, Minn. (KSAX) - Two teen brothers are charged with the murdering their mother on Christmas Day and hiding her body after remains were dug up last week in her Alberta backyard.

Tamara Mason's remains were found Thursday after she had been reported missing on December 27, 2010, according to Stevens County Sheriff Randy Willis.

Monday, Mason's 17-year-old son Jacob Cobb was charged with 2nd Degree Murder and her 18-year-old son, Andrew Cobb was charged with being an accessory after the fact to murder after their older brother, Dylan Clemens, 25, was questioned while in the Kandiyohi County Jail for another offense.

"(Clemens) admitted that he had watched one of the other brothers (Jacob) choke mom and then went on to lay it out as to what they had done with the body," Willis said.

Sons Kill Mom on Christmas Over Yahtzee Dispute – Body Discovered
By James Sheldon on July 18th, 2011

For seven months, Tamara Mason had been missing from her Alberta, Minnesota, community. Feared dead by her closest friends, police searched and searched for clues and followed leads offered by her sons.

The three sons Jacob and Andrew Cobb, and Dylan Clemens, led police to believe that they had last seen their mother on December 26, 2010, before she had gone out with someone who was possibly driving a dark blue pickup truck.

In truth, the three sons had a little dispute with mom on Christmas day–she wanted to play Yahtzee–they didn’t. Apparently, the request and subsequent argument so frustrated 17 year-old Jacob, that he wrapped a plastic bag around his mother’s head, then choked her to death with a belt. Mason was all of 5′3″, 120 pounds

This has got to be one of the dumbest reasons ever to murder someone.
"No , I don't want to play" would have been sufficient.
    Way to make Christmas memorable.

Rest in peace, Tamara, despite your sons.

RIP Tamara - what a betrayal.

I can't wait to hear these young men explain exactly what happened; could it really be only about a Yahtzee game? If so, Jacob must be a psychopath, imo, and the other two sons must not have valued their mom much to cover for such a senseless killing and obstruct the investigation...

Imo, there's probably more to this sad story. The boys might have been involved in criminal activity and/or on drugs. Wonder if they had an ongoing dispute with their mother. Speculating. It's almost incomprehensible that a simply Yahtzee game would be the only trigger causing a 17 year old boy to brutally snuff out his mom's life on Christmas Day. But, "incomprehensible" brutality by family members (and their associates) is the running theme on two other cases I'm following, so maybe Tamara really did have the life choked out of her simply for requesting that her children play a game with her on Christmas. Madness...
