Search continues for Columbia man missing 7 days

Aaron Brantley, 41, was reported missing Feb 8. He was driving to Osage Beach to meet someone at a bowling alley to buy arrowheads, but the seller says he never showed up. He has not been seen or heard from since 4 p.m. that afternoon according to his wife Becky Brantley.

“If you might have seen something even if you think it’s nothing, any information is helpful,” Becky Brantley said Friday.

Brantley’s cellphone was pinged to a tower near the Target retail store at 919 Route D, Osage Beach, according to his wife.

Brantley was driving a silver 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe with Missouri plate UE1-P3U. The vehicle is missing as well and Becky Brantley believes Aaron may have slid of a road nearby.

Police, search groups looking for answers after Columbia man disappeared in Osage Beach
Columbia Police say Aaron Brantley was on his way to Osage Beach on February 8th. He last spoke with a relative on the phone around 4:00 in the evening that day, but has not been seen or heard from since.

[...]

Bodle said they used drones and volunteers searched the area last Thursday, but were unsuccessful. The search was also planned for Friday, but was cancelled due to winter weather.

"He is missing and he is endangered especially with the weather that we're having," Bodle said. "It's not conducive to survival if exposed to the elements."

[...]

Bodle says she's seen rumors on Facebook saying Brantley's disappearance is a hoax. Bodle is adamant it's not.

She also says she does not believe he's at his parent's house, something Bodle said was also suggested on Facebook.

"His parents were at the search with us," Bodle said. "They're good people. They're worried about their son. As far as I'm concerned, he's not at their house."

Investigators say the Osage Beach PoliceDepartment, Troop F of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, and the Camden and Miller County Sheriff's Offices have been alerted to Brantley's disappearance, but only the Columbia Police Department is investigating.

Right now, the group is only doing private searches. They say there is information they have shared to law enforcement and can't release publicly.

Information they can't share publicly? Regarding his mental health? A possible person of interest?
I understood that to mean that the search group has information that they can't share publicly, but they have shared it with LE. That leads me to believe the searchers may have discovered potential physical evidence of some kind.

The Columbia PD is pretty busy to have full responsibility for looking for this man. It's a good-sized university town with a lot of other businesses, etc. I do hope they find him.

Missing Columbia man found dead

A Columbia man missing since last month was found dead from a gunshot wound in Miller County on Thursday.

The Miller County Sheriff's Office said a body found at about 9:30 p.m. Thursday in a wooded area near Brumley has been identified as Aaron Brantley, 41. Brantley was reported missing on Feb. 8 after he was reportedly driving to the Lake of the Ozarks area in a silver 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe with Missouri license plate number UE1P3U.

Investigators have also located the SUV, the sheriff's office said.

Preliminary investigation results show Brantley was killed by a gunshot wound, the sheriff's office said in a news release. An autopsy is set for Monday in Columbia.

Three lake area residents were arrested in connection with the death in Miller and Camden counties, the sheriff's office said. They were being held Friday at the Miller County Jail pending filing of charges.

Thanks for the updates! So sorry to hear this. It sounds like he was probably killed around the time he went missing. LE seems to have some idea of who was responsible, having arrested 3 people. RIP and prayers for his family and friends.

So very sad! I wonder what the motive was, surely he didn't have a bunch of money on him to purchase the arrowheads. I guess we will have to wait and see. I am glad they have arrested people.

RIP Aaron!
Since according to the news stories these are among the agencies still investigating, the arrowhead story may not be true.
