This is so tragically sad, and I knew with the first report this morning that it would turn out he was murdered! From news reports he lived with only his mother, who is currently pregnant again.

Rest in Peace baby Marquell, you deserved SO much better!

"Police this afternoon identified the boy as Marquell Jackson. Preliminary autopsy results showed the child suffered blunt trauma over much of his body from being beaten."

Such a beautiful little boy. May God hold him in His arms and comfort him. My only comfort when I learn of an innocent child dying is that his pain is over. He will never, ever hurt or suffer again.

Note the date (May 27, 2011) did not find anything on this woman at WS, so here ya go:

Melissa Shawneece Jackson was charged this afternoon with first-degree murder in the brutal beating and strangulation death of her 18-month old son, found in a trash bin near their home this week.

The St. Louis Circuit Attorney's Office also filed a charge of felony abuse of a child against Jackson, 28. She was arrested this afternoon at her home, and is to be held without bond.

How sad. There is something wrong with the drinking water. It is hard to believe how many child murders go on in the last decade. what the heck has happened to us as a "civilized society"?

My beau, who hates that I read about crimes specifically missing & abused children, says that is the media coverage of these crimes . . . not that there is an increase in them, just that they are exposed to us.

    Love the Internet!

I was hoping there was something new on this case. The last update I could find was:

Jackson, 28, appeared in St. Louis Circuit Court on Wednesday for her arraignment and entered her not guilty plea.

:furious:Sad this poor little guy's life ended so soon, what was the mother going to do, keep the one she is pregnant with now till it was 18 months old and do it all over again? It really sickens me that there are so many forms of birth control out there, but these kind of women are too lazy to go get it. Instead they beat their children and throw them in the trash.:furious:
