    Story says they recovered the body of a woman from the Mississippi River in St. Louis, MO on March 23, 2011. It was found just South of the Popular Street Bridge.

    Investigators believe it had been in the water for some time. It was unclear because of the condition of the body to determine if there was trauma.

    He said it was too difficult to tell whether the body showed signs of trauma. Her identity was not available.

    ST. LOUIS • A woman whose body was found last week in the Mississippi River was identified late Tuesday as Vickie Smith, 54, of the 300 block of Range Lane in Cahokia, authorities said.

    Her cause of death has not yet been determined, but there were no signs of trauma to her body, authorities said.
