Twin Boys Found Not Breathing By Mother...

    http://www.kmov.com/news/local/Two-infant-twin-boys-found-dead-in-Jennings-127607868.html

When emergency officials arrived, they determined they would not transport the children to the hospital.

He said there also were no obvious signs of foul play, "but two 3-month-old children aren't going to have deaths of natural causes at the same time."

She was in the three-bedroom apartment with six children, ranging in age from 3 months to 8 years.

The medical examiner's autopsy and toxicology report should detail exactly how 3-month-old twins Moses and Noah Abdus-Sabir died.
That report should be released this weekend.

I guess I'm to jaded -- but 2 babies don't just up and die at the same time for no reason. If it was cot death, and one baby was lying on the other, I could see 1 baby dying...but both? Unless they somehow smothered each other -- which is a stretch for me.

    In this video:

    http://www.ksdk.com/news/article/271572/3/Twin-infants-found-dead-at-North-County-home

LE seems to be leaning towards an "accidental" death... for both twins to die at the same time. :waitasec:

Said the mother was "clearly hysterical as any mother would be finding her children deceased." And has been extremely cooperative.

They are working to determine why no one else in the home died or even got sick. (Are they thinking water or something?)

That video shows the family outside the home, not sure which members of the family.

Maybe the formula, maybe immunizations or some other substance that both babies ingested or were otherwise exposed to.

hmmmm...something in a bottle? Something in breast milk? I hope answers are found upon autopsy.

Just thinking back to the mom who took meth while breastfeeding.

Maggie Jean Wortman claims she did not know that using meth while breastfeeding could harm her six-month-old baby Anthony Costa III, who died last year.

Disclaimer: I'm not saying the mother in this case took drugs -- just that my mind is wandering that way as a COD. I'll have to wait and see.

I have a cousin who has lost 4 out of 5 babies... all by 3 months. It is a genetic issue but it didn't get figured out until after the 2nd baby died. If it was a genetic issue the odds of BOTH dying at the same time.... are still astronomical... but they were reported to be identical twins...

I don't know... they seem to be leaning towards accidental... maybe they have a reason for that.

    Strange indeed . . .

The St. Louis County medical examiner could know as early as today what caused the deaths of 3-month-old twin boys found dead in a St. Louis County apartment Friday afternoon.

St. Louis County Police Chief Tim Fitch said Friday that a woman called police at 12:39 p.m. and reported that her infant boys, *******, weren't breathing in an apartment in the 2600 block of Tyrrell Drive, near Jennings in unincorporated St. Louis County.

Currently, no signs of foul play "but two 3-month-old children aren't going to have deaths of natural causes at the same time."

This is purely speculation, opinion, and MOO. The first thing that comes to my mind when I hear of 6 kids ages 8 and under including infant twins is, "Wow, that would be stressful". I have twin boys as well, though they are my oldest (now 5). I hate to say it but honestly I wouldn't be surprised if it was found that she suffocated them. Maybe she just snapped from stress, lack of sleep, etc, etc. I hope that's not the case so that the remaining 4 can be with their mom, but this was my first thought when I read this story.

    This is heartbreaking!

I have identical twin boys who just turned 5 in May.

Oh how I pray this was not intentional but I have my suspicions. And the mother had 4 other children, WOW.

I only had a 13 month old when my boys were born and I was barely able to function.

    Rest in peace little angels.

Authorities: Jennings twins were accidentally suffocated

Yolonda Harrington-Sabir woke in a panic that August morning when she didn't see her twin baby boys in their matching wooden cribs.

She ran through her apartment, screaming, thinking someone had taken them. She didn't see them in the portable car seats. Not in the bedrooms of her four older children either.

She was relieved when her 8-year-old daughter called from her bedroom that the boys were in bed with her.

But that relief turned to horror when Harrington-Sabir yanked the comforter off the girl and found the 3-month-old twin boys lifeless underneath.

"My daughter said she didn't want them to be cold,"
Harrington-Sabir says. "She wanted them to be with her."

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Since the babies' deaths, her 4-year-old asks about his baby brothers and wants them to come back.

Her only daughter is going through counseling
. Harrington-Sabir tries to reassure her daughter that she loves her and doesn't blame her.

"My daughter's very reluctant to pick up small children now," she says. "Her spirit's been broken. I can't tell her anything except, 'It's not your fault.' She just wanted to help."

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The detectives had the 8-year-old girl do what they called a "walk-through," to go through the house and show them what happened,
    Harrington-Sabir said.

"I'm going to jail mama," the girl cried that day. "I didn't mean to wrap them."

No one was arrested, and none of the oldest children was ever removed from the home by police or state children's service workers.

"My kids are now afraid of police because they kept putting me in and out of the police car" to talk with her, she said.

Oh how horrible! That poor 8 year old! She was trying to be grownup and she was trying to be loving and helpful. If she ever comes here, I hope she will realize that this has happened to others, to grownups/parents.

Putting babies in bed with adults is often done. And very easy to do. I myself have fallen asleep after feeding with the baby in bed with me. Some people take it a step further and encourage it as a move toward better bonding with the baby. They also claim that the baby sleeps better.

But medical people discourage sleeping with a baby. Because they are so small they can be rolled over on, and because their respiratory passages are so small they can be easily compromised. And because their lack of coordination doesn't allow them to move their head or remove covers or otherwise correct whatever might be compromising their breathing.

And at the last it is so easy to do! Slip a fussy baby into bed with you and you often soon have silence. Much needed in the middle of the night.

Here is the only possible scenario I can come up with. I cared for identical twin girls who had SMA1 (Wernig-Hoffman disease) the most aggressive form of muscular dystrophy. They died of their disease witin hours of each other at age 5 months. (They were in hospice care at the time, it was so sad.)
