Brother of Murder Victim Speaks Out

Xan Spencer says his sister Heather was full of laughter and life. "When she laughed, she opened her whole mouth... that's just how she was." He says he was his sister's protector and biggest fan.

Tuesday morning, Jackson police found his sister's body in her boyfriend's mother's home. She'd been beaten with a flashlight. Hours later, Heather Spencer's boyfriend was in custody and facing capital murder charges for her death. But according to Xan, that was not the first time George Bell, III attacked his sister.

"He came over with a rubber mallet and while she was asleep.... she woke up to him hitting her in the head with a rubber mallet." This alleged incident took place in June. Xan says the physical reminders of that incident made him lose all respect for George Bell. "She had 57 staples from that and it was definitely a tragic incident."

Xan says he and other members of their family begged Heather to leave Geoge Bell, but she refused.
