"Police said Herrington’s cellphone history showed conversations between him and Lee on the morning Lee went missing. They said Herrington did computer searches about international travel, and they found Google searches for “how long it takes to strangle someone” minutes after Lee reportedly told Herrington he was on his way to the apartment."

Like COME ON.

Bbm.
Yep.

Darwin award there.
Omo.

The parents of Jimmie “Jay” Lee filed a request with the court in September, and court documents show the judge granted their request.

Sheldon Herrington is accused of murdering Lee, to allegedly hide their romantic relationship. However, the whereabouts of Lee’s body remain a mystery.

A grand jury indicted Herrington with capital murder in Lee’s disappearance. He’s scheduled to go on trial in December.

Surveillance footage and body fluids are also being taken into account for the case against Herrington. A friend of Lee's spoke about the missing Ole Miss student. Saying that he was "really energetic, nice, and friendly." Lee was also a well-known member of "Oxford's queer community."

The trial doesn’t start until December 2, but Monday in court, the defense filed a motion arguing to withhold evidence from being presented at trial.

In this case, it’s the results of multiple search warrants conducted by the Oxford Police Department, including through Herrington’s apartment and his phone.

The judge has sided with the prosecutors, saying there was probable cause for Oxford police to issue search warrants for Herrington.

Another question that was raised in court was about Herrington not being read his Miranda Rights while he was being arrested.
The judge will make a decision on that Tuesday.

Devastating, but hopefully his family can start the healing process.

I desperately hope for some revelations to come out in court. Herrington needs to tell the family where Jimmie's body is. There is way too much probable cause of his guilt for him to be acquitted.

I am so glad to see a trial date. I don't know if it will be live online, but if it is I will be virtually in attendance.
I live in a neighboring county and don't suspect this will be televised.
I don't think that he will tell where Jimmie is unfortunately. But I suspect that they will not give up until he is found.

Do you think he will ever be found? Given the Herrington family business, I have my doubts.

I do as well but changing politics sometimes change the course of the cases in these areas.
I'd sure like to know what the community at large thinks about him. Not just the few that his pops got to write letters.

It seems like the Herrington family is well known in that area and maintain a specific image. Perhaps, people aren’t very vocal about what they really think as the community could be small and close-knit.. also.. power could be at play. Not saying any of this is true but a plausible scenario nonetheless.

Even with all of that said, although there’s no direct, concrete evidence against Herrington, the evidence that is known is enough to raise eyebrows. I hope that this case is looked at impartially for all parties involved.

MOO

While I wholeheartedly agree that it always in all of our best interests for fair trials to be obtainable and satisfied, I think you may be under the impression that Oxford is a smaller town than what it is in reality due to it being a college town, so it has a totally different vibe than your average smaller city in the state. It is my understanding that TH's family is not from there, but from Batesville. I'm happy to be corrected if need be, but I am unaware of his family having any kind of clout or image in and around Oxford. I can't imagine politics (as mentioned by the poster you replied to) playing any role in this case. Oxford is a university town containing the University of Mississippi, more commonly referred to as Ole Miss which is an SEC school. Without students the city has a population of roughly just under 30,000. Students add another 23,000 or so. It is only about 75 miles southeast of Memphis.

As for concrete evidence, I expect to see things brought forth at trial that that will do more than raise eyebrows.

Even when I was in college, a couple of decades ago, if your car didn't have a parking sticker for that apartment parking lot, your car was towed -- and quickly. Even then, the cost of the tow was a lot, but it was the only way to get your car back. No mercy.

I would think Jay Lee would know that -- maybe he was planning on staying there only a very few minutes. Someone may have reported his car in the lot or something else must have happened..
The suspect may have driven Jimmie's car to the Molly Bar Trails Apartments. I don't think a person in a robe and slippers would want to drive to a friend or relative's house without getting dressed first
