    ===============
    In reading this link, here is an update.

    UPDATE:
    Officers searched the area with tracking dogs into the night on March 14, the girl's tracks were located and lead across the frozen river to an island. After following the tracks on the island the tracks continued to the main channel of the river and to an area of open water. Leinen's tracks lead to the edge of the open water and no tracks were discovered leading back away.The tracks lead the officers to believe that the girl may have fallen into the water. Both Richland and Roosevelt County Officers as well as the Poplar police department, Fort Peck Tribal Police, Poplar and Sidney volunteer fire departments and the U.S. Border Patrol were present for the search.Dallas O'Conner fromPoplar and Brian Ligon from Lambert provided aerial search support.

    bbm: I hope this is not the case.!

    Nothing new, but a little more detail about the latest updates...

    Officials fear missing girl fell into river

    According to the Richland County Sheriff’s Office, on Sunday at approximately 4:50 p.m., the Richland County Sheriff’s Office received a call of a missing girl from a residence in northwest Richland County. The girl, Ivy Leinen, reportedly went for a walk and about 15 to 20 minutes later did not come back. She was with four of the family’s dogs, and when the dogs came back to the residence without her, the family started looking for her.

    The residence is on the Missouri River, and after searching the area with tracking dogs into the night, the girl’s tracks were located and lead across to an island. After tracking the girl’s tracks on the island, they lead searchers to the main channel of the Missouri River. The tracks of the girl and the dogs were found on the ice-covered river near an open water area. The tracks of the girl lead to the edge of the open area of the river and none were found to return. The girl’s and the dog’s tracks are such that searchers believe the girl may have fallen into the open water.

    Instead of stopping the search entirely, shouldn't they move into recovery mode? Are they just going to wait for her body to turn up? I don't understand... Ivy still needs to be found.

    How sad, why would they stop searching? Regardless if she fell in or not, she's still out there somewhere, and she needs to be brought home.

    How fast is the Missouri flowing right now? You'd think they'd start searching further down the shore and checking the river as thoroughly as possible..
