NC - Mother charged after infant found dead on Christmas Eve

She has now been charged with involuntary manslaughter and is still in jail.

Autopsy was inconclusive, but they are still awaiting tox results.

Is it me, or has she developed a shiner that wasn't apparent in her mug shot?

Wow sounds like dad tried to do some preemptive covering up for mom and/or himself in regards to the state of the house. He said it's all messed up and he doesn't know how it got that way, clearly indicating he's insisting the house wasn't trashed when he left for work. Hmm... But the reports are saying the baby was lying among garbage and human and animal waste. And all the children were naked. So...you left a clean house and clean dressed children and in one work shift the house is now filthy and literally poop-covered and naked? Right

And the neighbor said police were called before when the naked children were out running the streets... And I'm also supposed to believe that these two little girls were able to actually physically damage the door jamb and get out? A) really? These are some crazy strong toddlers? Come on, I was a preschool teacher for 15 years...I've seen many many children do amazing physical damage but I find this completely unbelievable. B) let's say they did--that would be loud. Mom slept through it... Red flag Hello?? No, let's just recommend new locks (for the superhuman babies) and have a nice day?

Also, when asked by 911 how old baby is, dad answers less than a year. When pressed, 6-7 months could be younger not sure???????!?!?!

There's a lot if hinky going on...

Addiction is a progressive disease. Im sure the house was much worse in December than it was in April. Was the child who died even born yet when the April incident occured? If I had to guess the house was probably ok for the babys arrival and let go after she gave birth.

Such a sad, sad situation.

I wonder if she became addicted to prescription drugs after she gave birth to the infant that died. Clearly if he was born with drugs in his system child protective services would have been involved upon birth.

Deteriorating over months, sure, but over one of dad's work shifts? Nope. I'm guessing mom isn't the only addict in the home.

I don't remember if it stated but did DHS get involved after the first incident?

I havent seen any mention of previous DHS involvement. Im not trying to suggest she was an impeccible housekeeper, but two toddlers, four dogs and garbage bags not taken to the curb with mom passed out, things could get pretty filthy pretty quickly.

Im not going to make the leap there js more than one addict in the house. An enabler possibly, but without additional msm info.....

Good point about the dogs. Kids and dogs together unsupervised can make quite a mess and dogs and trash... My my... Especially dogs who are inclined towards litter box snacking and the like.

Unfortunately, I know the enabler role too well myself... Gosh, I hope the dad didn't knowingly leave them like that, though. I'm very curious about cause of death. Face down I wonder if one of the girls were doing mama duty and he was put in an unsafe position and smothered? He wasn't mauled by the dogs --dad didn't mention visible injury nor has anyone else, and the dogs didn't sound vicious per the reports.

So sad. I hated when I'd hear from my little students about not being able to wake parents up. My mom had six kids before me--she pretty much woke up with her mom/spidey senses tingling BEFORE we even got into trouble lol.

Sigh. Anyone else find dad's lack of knowledge about the age of his son odd? Like, if he'd answered 6-7 months and left it at that, okay, but he says under a year, then 6-7 months when the 911 asks him to repeat, then he adds could be younger not sure??? So, what, my baby is somewhere between about 5-11 months old? I know this was an awful and traumatic emergency situation, however, I find it odd that he seemed unable to answer the question as to his own child's age.

Lots more info here, including the 911 call:

Also has a link to a apparently set up by family, with clarifications on what has been reported by media.

"Late Dec. 24, when he returned home from work, Jerry Allen told authorities he found his son dead,"

With the above quote it makes it appear as if he was gone for work. Just not clear on whether a day or more than one😕

I don't think it's been mentioned, but where did the dad work? There are jobs where people are at work for extended periods of time...ex. Truck drivers, firemen, barge or river boat workers, I'm sure there are other jobs as well. I'm not defending dad but until we know where he worked, I'm not sure we can place blame just yet.

Once I read autopsy was inconclusive my first thoughts went to one of the toddlers doing mommy duty.

So the autopsy did not find the cause of this beautiful little boy's death?

That means we can rule out the obvious things like choking, aspirating, dehydration, malnutrition, suffocation, falling off the couch, abuse, previous injuries that did not heal properly etc.

The oldest girl may have the answers. Of course, she does not realize the consequences of what she tells, however, Momma may have told her not to tell. At 3, they are so eager to please and answer questions, hopefully, LE will bring in a child specialist to talk with both girls. Like yesterday!!

This article states that she has 5 kids, an 8 yr daughter that lives with her father dhs was involved per the article, the 3 and 4 yr old daughters and the deceased boy. That's 4 where's the other child?

Could this Momma be the victim of Domestic Abuse?

Who else is going to assault her, the mother of three small children, other than her significant other?

She was awake or alert enough to tell EMS she had been assaulted and when, but did not disclose by whom. Hmm... The father of these children tells a tale that is a bit far fetched for me to believe...but was quick to throw out she had or had had problems with prescription meds.

The picture of her today on the television screen, makes me see a woman living in a severe domestic abuse life, with an additional drug addiction problem, and 3 tiny children. She has a look of fear, defeat, scared, no where to turn, loss. How can we get her help in dealing with all she is?

I trust LE looks closely into her assault claim and also why she is taking meds 7 months after the birth of her son.

She may be a victim of domestic abuse. But she looks so high in that mugshot, I think she could have passed out and landed on her face and it could have caused those injuries.

My son in law was so high once that while fishing he almost cut his finger off and didn't even know it. Luckily his brother was with him and got him to the hospital. I say luckily, he seems to have unlimited chances at life and my daughter keeps taking him back.

She says the assault was two days prior. He says she was fine when he went to work that day.

She went to the hospital for a couple of hours after police responded to the 911 call, then was booked. I don't see the black eye in the mugshot, but it's kind of hard to tell. That would be early Friday morning.

Then Monday she has court, and the black eye looks pretty evident (to me anyway). So the timeline on the assault seems strange.

As regards to the dad living there, I heard him tell the 911 operator that he first looked for his son in the bedroom, because "they all" sleep there. I looked up the house on one of the real estate sites, and it is a 2 bedroom. I wonder if someone else lives there, flopping or renting the second bedroom?

I would guess the second room is a kids' room. It took a great many years before my kids actually used their bedrooms for anything other than making messes. It is pretty much like that with my youngest, still. At a month shy of six.

This gal will keep having babies. I wish the powers that be could have her tubes tied.

Ah, true. Mine is 7 and still doesn't use it either. I'm just trying to figure out if there is a plausible explanation for the injuries, if they weren't there when boyfriend went to work but were when he returned. Someone here isn't telling the truth ... they either happened two days earlier or that day, depending on who is telling the story.
