According to reports, one officer has been shot and killed.
A second officer has also been shot, condition unknown.

It is being reported that the suspect is carrying a long gun and has shot people point blank.


"The suspected shooter was thought to be a white teenage male with a long gun. No one is in custody.

"Heavy police activity is in the area of the Hedingham neighborhood and the Neuse River Greenway, near Osprey Cove Drive and Bay Harbor Drive. Raleigh police have stated that residents in the area should stay in their homes for safety."

WRAL just reporting suspect is down, or in custody, at least. I hope this is true and this is over, but sounds like multiple fatalities in a nice, peaceful neighborhood park & trail.

So senseless! Yesterday, I remarked to my daughter that it isn't safe to go anywhere anymore.
Now- apparently it isn't safe to be in your own neighborhood.

i live in a "nice" area of charlotte, nc - but i don't feel as safe as i should, when alone in my small yard.
