Wondering if we should alter the title of the thread as theAMBER alert has been cancelled. Would it now be classified as missing person LE suspect foul play?

I think this smalltown LE has done a great job in moving the case along this far and feel they will work with other agencies to get their convictions.

First, let's get dad to say where Zahra is, before he gets a lawyer, if he has not already. And then they can worry about prosecutions.

It still amazes me that Terri Horman out in Oregon has been able to hold out for so long, if guilty, as generally LE does a great job in obtaining confessions.)

"Zahra Clare Baker had a "horrible home life" and was frequently locked in her room, a relative said Tuesday.

Zahra was reported missing about 2 p.m. Saturday. Police have said her father, Adam Baker, and stepmother, Elisa Baker, reported she was last seen sleeping in her bed about 12 hours earlier, at 2:30 a.m."

No one can say yet that they have seen Zahra within the last month, yet the father reports that she was in her bed 12 hours before he reports her missing. I'm sorry but unless he blindly believes anything his wife tells him, then he's involved in this homicide of his daughter as well. This is just terrible.

Perhaps our thread title should reflect that now then.

    Cubby, can you do that?

"Hickory Police Chief Tom Adkins said at a news conference Tuesday that the girl's stepmother confessed to writing a ransom note found at the house where the girl lived. The woman has also asked for an attorney.

Elisa Baker has been charged with felony obstruction of justice in the disappearance of Zahra Baker. " <snipped>

I am still curious if Zahra had been to doctor since being in the states. Wondering if her remission was being monitored at all?

Major timeline problem in that the search warrant says the fire department came at 0520.

So the child was seen at 0230, she is killed, her body decomposes enough for dog hits (which you is technically possible but is the least of the problems with the time lie).... her decomposing body is in contact with both vehicles, a ransom note is admittedly written by stepmom, a fire is set and the fire department arrives.

    In less than three hours.

No one checks on the child for the entire day and she is reported missing at 1400.

My speculation is that Zahra was already in heaven way before that bogus note was written. :furious:

I checked the GIS Land records for all the people we know lived near them, but can't find them. They must rent. Small town like Sawmills, ask a couple people and you will surely find out!

His American wife and Zahra's step-mother, Elisa Baker, has been named by police as a person of interest.
Zahra is hearing impaired and also wears a prosthetic leg, after having her lower left leg amputated at the age of five due to bone cancer.
Later, she suffered a secondary bout of lung cancer but that went into remission.

After being born in Wagga Wagga and spending her early life in Newcastle, Zahra and her family moved to Townsville where Zahra, described by her grandmother Karen Baker as handling "everything with a smile", attended a Camp Quality weekend for sick children.

Karen Baker was also in tears late yesterday and said from her Newcastle home that her son was devastated.
"We want our darling girl back safe and sound," she said.
Mrs Baker begged anyone in her son's home town in the US to come forward with information.
"We are just stunned and shocked and so upset about what has happened," she said.
"Adam is obviously very upset, but he is holding up.
"The North Carolina police have been in constant contact, keeping us up to date with what is going on, but there is nothing we can do from here - we feel so helpless."

Agreed, timeline according to SM is not adding up. Child was already dead at 2:30 am IMO. SM has every reasson to have lied about time last seen.
