I was wondering if anyone followed this case. I have so many unanswered questions and looking for people to chat with. His appeal is coing on now. Which made me think of so many things and what people are saying like the dentist appoitment. It never would have matered because it was at noon, hours after the murder, it was never an alibi. The knife been trying to get the actual brand, Stabbing over 100 times with a cheap folding fillit knife you would think it would have snapped.

I recall CI not being present at a status conference pre-jury selection by choice when he was not allowed to terminate his counsel and they were not allowed to withdraw. I'm not surprised his rattled paper -- what else does he have to do?

Right I dont think he did it, or at the very least acted alone. Its to bazaar. Exspically with nothing in his past, having the ability to slaughter 4 people in a few minnuter all of who had weapons on them or close buy. He was a lab guy in the navy not a seal. Then leave no evidance. Who uses a fillat knife I would think over 100 stab woulds that would have snapped.

I definitely expected more of a slam dunk case but I wouldn’t go as far as to say I think he’s innocent. He’s obviously a very odd duck. I know prosecutors aren’t required to establish motive but I was really hoping for one to come out in trial. I just didn’t see it but I wasn’t a juror so I guess there was more evidence than I read about in the tweets.
I definitely am still wondering what exactly happened that day and why. MOO.

Can I obtain a transcript or audio recording of a hearing?

A transcript (written record) or audio recording of a hearing can be purchased if they can be released under Administrative Rule 41.

The process to request a transcript is under Policy 206 - Fees and Expenses for Preparation of Transcripts.

The process to request an audio recording is under Policy 503 - Procedures for Accessing Tapes or CDs.

Many residents of the city of Washburn, where Chad Isaak lived, would rather not be associated with the convicted killer.

While many people at Dakota Farms Restaurant had opinions about Chad Isaak, only two wanted to speak on camera about his death. Bewilderment and sympathy for both Isaak’s family and the family members of the victims was the sentiment at this cafe.

“I guess I was shocked. I never thought he would do something like that, but I guess you just never know,” said Dale Leingang of Washburn.

Others are still looking for answers.

“Right at the end, the only thing he said at the trial that I saw on the news was, ‘I’m not a killer.’ So, was he or wasn’t he?” asks Arnie Fisher of Hensler.

At the McLean County Sheriff’s Office, word of Isaak’s death was just as surprising, but staff are focusing on the future.

“As far as moving on, like I said, I feel sorry for the victim’s families, yeah they got a conviction but closure as far as knowing why or any of that is going to go unanswered now that he decided to take his own life,” said McLean County Patrol Lieutenant Justin Krohmer.

There is one noticeable sign the town is beginning to move on. Isaak’s old chiropractic office has been remodeled and rented out for additional office space for the courthouse. The trailer where Isaak lived in Washburn, however, is still for sale.

ORIGINAL STORY: Officials at the North Dakota State Penitentiary say Chad Isaak died from self-inflicted wounds.

The 48-year-old was serving life in prison after being convicted of four murders in December of 2021.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol was called to the penitentiary on Sunday at about 5:45 p.m. when Isaak reportedly caused self-harm. A trooper took him to the hospital by ambulance and Isaak was pronounced deceased at 6:24 p.m.

The Highway Patrol and North Dakota Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation are investigating.

The Highway Patrol was called to the State Penitentiary for a report of an inmate who harmed himself, the release said. No further information was available in the release.

Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation spokeswoman Kayli Richards said the department could release few details about Isaak's death because it is under investigation. Isaak had a roommate, but that person was not present at the time Isaak reportedly took his life Sunday afternoon, Richards said.

She noted Isaak had one "minor pending disciplinary report" against him since he first came to the prison.

Richards declined to say whether Isaak was under watch for mental health reasons. She also declined to say who found Isaak, noting that fact is part of the investigation.

We know that CI earlier filed an appeal of his verdict with the Supreme Court and after an extension, the brief was filed on 6/30/22.

The Prosecution had until 7/30/22 to respond to the brief, and on 7/23, filed for an extension which was granted by the court to 9/30/22.

Seems CI either accepted his 4 reasons cited were weak or decided he couldn't wait out the process.
