Warning graphic picture!

Overleden man Sloterdijk

The lifeless body of a man was found on 30-04-1997 in the vicinity of Amsterdam Sloterdijk station. A crime is excluded, but his identity is as yet unknown. The cold case team of the Amsterdam police unit is once again trying to find out its identity in order to inform the next of kin about his death.

Signalement:
• Age around 18 - 30 years
• White skin color
• Length 184 cm
• Normal posture
• Probably gray / blue eyes and dark blonde hair
• Fairly cared for teeth.
The lower left fang is skewed
• The man wore white with green "Nike-Air Max" sport shoes, size 44.5
• A blue fabric jacket with zipper was found on the victim. This is a Life Line brand jacket, size 52. This jacket is probably the victim's.

Particularities
In one of the pockets of the jacket was a New Testament edition in the Russian language. The outsite of the bible was covered with a brochure from the resistance museum in Amsterdam. The original cover of the Bible probably had a green-blue color. There was a black and white photo of a woman in the Bible. On the back of that photo is a Russian text translated into Dutch: "In memory of your Marusha <Maroesja> Don't forget me and you will be loved forever. 8-11-43".

I wonder if the woman could have been his grandmother. Perhaps he was looking for information about his roots at the resistance museum. Was his grandmother a Dutch woman who escaped to Russia during the war?

Whatever the story, it's bathed in sadness.

Can somebody make a case file for this man on the wiki missing and unidentified persons site? Of course with the picture found in his bible. Who on here is good in this?

@Gourami Watcher maybe when you find a time you can add this case please?

Moving case up.

Note if you click on the option to view the page in English, most of the information is no longer there.

Warning - There's a graphic PM photo of the victim. It is not "hidden."

In the English translation page, it states that he was burned.

They are still looking for tips from anyone who may know the victim or woman in the photo.

Bumping case up. His LE link remains up, last updated in 2016.

I tend to agree that the Bible and the photo of the woman inside are related to the man somehow, but is it possible he just purchased the Bible from a vintage bookstore and not noticed (or not minded) the photo inside?

I've bought antique Bibles and prayer books from Strand bookstore in New York City for decades, and I've found all sorts of things left inside from previous owners. I can't say I've ever found a photo, and I would hope sellers make sure they don't lose something of such sentimental and irreplaceable value. But when I find them, I just keep them inside.

So what if the Bible belonged to the woman in the photo, she died, and her descendants sold or even donated some of her possessions they couldn't keep, and they just missed the photo? Then the decedent buys it from a local shop for whatever reason (e.g., he's religious, studying Russian, the Orthodox Church, etc.). If so, then there would be no connection between the two—other than maybe police should have visited vintage bookstores in the area?
