    Hello all,
I am interested in a cold case murder that happened not all that far from where I live now in 1980. A participant in a racing event was killed by an unknown assailant while travelling from the event. Seems interesting. Is it possible for a private citizen to obtain a police report on this case? I ask from total noob ignorance. I was thinking the first step might be to visit the county library of that county and look at local newspaper archives?

No, the GBI page did not list the victims' name, and only shows a composite drawing of the male "wanted for questioning".

Did you find out more about this yet? Any ideas on why he was killed?
