I tuned into a podcast and heard some interesting information. Alcala was in Tennessee in the 60s and got arrested for a robbery/credit card fraud/grand theft auto charge in South Carolina after he committed the crime in TN. He also allegedly fled to Mexico after the Tali S. Do you think there's a possibility of missing person's cases adding up to him in MX/TN/SC?

It seems like everywhere Alcala went dead girls soon followed. I doubt we will ever learn the full extent of his rampage. Its a safe bet he will never tell.

I was curious about the timeline for the events in Tennessee and South Carolina. I found this, which also puts him in NEW YORK in the early 1960s!

'Dating Game' serial killer connected to victims decades after their deaths

Woman attacked, New York City: 1963
While assigned to Fort Campbell on the Kentucky–Tennessee border, Pfc. Rodney Alcala went AWOL multiple times.

In June 1963 he took a routine weekend pass to Nashville, Tennessee. According to an Army report, after stealing a car and robbing another driver of their credit card, he fled to New York City.

“One night after leaving a bar [in New York], he saw a young lady walking down the street,” the report said. “He followed her a short distance and struck her with a coke bottle.”

She was able to get away.

Alcala traveled to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, where he was arrested and charged by military justice authorities with being absent without leave. While being transported with a military escort back to Fort Campbell, he was able to escape as they changed trains in Atlanta, Georgia, and escaped to his family’s home in California.

Alcala’s mother and sisters advised him to turn himself in. While staying at home, he said he exposed himself to his youngest sister, “who became hysterical,” the report said. “Private Alcala stated he did not know if he wanted to have sexual relations with her.”

Really strange, that whole Nashville thing. Could he have committed a crime hence the escaping?

In 1963 he was only 20. Really makes you wonder what was going on.....

The fact that he hit that girl in NYC on the head with a bottle hints to me that he may have killed way before 1968. If it wasn't for that bystander he would have no doubt killed the little girl.

Are there more details about the incident with the Coke bottle in 1973 in NYC? I only found the one article searching. It didn't mention what happened--i.e. hitting her in the head--although that seems a reasonable conclusion.

I would be very surprised if Tali was his first victim.* She might have been, or another young child may have been, since a child would be an easier target. But a young guy in the service? He definitely could have hit on vulnerable women, or otherwise taken advantage when on leave. Or yes, just attacked someone.

I was thinking of the people who told investigators they had the wrong guy when told he brutalized Tali, and wondering what Alcala was like as a teen? It would be interesting to know if people have ever come forward with memories. I wonder if he seemed normal, or if he was already giving off "bad vibes" like he did to the other contestants and the woman from the Dating Game?

* Edited to clarify: by victim I am including all forms of assault.

Btw, for what's it worth, I finally identified the leaves in pic with person doing backbend in foliage:

Northern prickly ash.

Very nice. The location some of us have been considering for that photo session, the Rockefeller Preserve in New York State, falls within the range of that plant. It's thus another data point consistent with that hypothesis. The range includes the Hudson River valley but excludes a lot of the surrounding territory.

Might very well be that park.

Behind the person there's something like a wall/door with a metal thing on it. A hinge? It's square with an apparent hole in it. Next to the armpit.

Btw, the hair is not reaching the ground, there's something horizontal underneath the head. Together with the pieces of paper it frames the head almost.

I'm still finding new stuff in this picture.

We also know now definitively he had an earlier victim than Tali, as the woman has come forth publicly after his death. (As well as Norest mentioning others who alsosurvived.)

Daphne is what are you seeing as a hinge? I see something green that almost looks to me like a person's joint in green clothing. Bottom left of image. Is that what you mean?

Ahhh! Thanks for clarifying. This is seriously one of the most disturbing images, and so much going on in it.

I doubt that this person survived. I think the left eye is pulled out partly. Yes, I know! Anyways, I keep looking for anything to identify him. Yes, I also think it's a male. But I stay open for it to be a flat chested female.

Btw, the shadow of the profile on the arm shows imo a small upper lip. And a weak chin. Tip of nose pointing up. Lastly, I think they brown in the visible eye is the actual iris.

Do you have the link to the article? I'd like to read it. Thank you in advance. Very interesting.

Under editing. It's a Long-haired person (brownish hair a little darker than the armpit hair with blonde-ish ends) hair is about 16 to 18 inches in length) the undeveloped deltoid muscles (shoulder) and hair growth pattern is that of a female I believe. The key thing is the leaf. He did that on purpose to hide their face. Something very very weird with this photo
