"The hunt is on for a man in relation to an abduction attempt in Auckland's Botanic Gardens this morning.

A 44-year-old woman was on her morning jog, when the offender grabbed her from behind and attempted to pull her off the path."

(ARS, Jessica Ridgeway's murderer, did this exact same thing in the months before he abducted Jessica).

Ashburton is around halfway down the South Island. Small country town about 88k's south of Christchurch.

Thanks Enzeder - I was just trying for the Botanical Gardens - I can't navigate my way through maps for more than 2 locations at once - lol - I need some learning time for these new maps.

Likewise margarita25. I was fearing the worst but hoping for a good outcome. It certainly didn't sound very hopeful though. :(

It's good that someone heard what the vehicle sounded like. A loud "low-slung" car. It's a very distinctive sound and it does narrow the field a little.

3 News reported a neighbour saying she heard loud and frightened screams about 8pm, followed by the sound of a loud "low-slung" car driving away.

Haha - I know what you mean. You can click on the '?' at the bottom of the map then click on "Return to classic Google Maps". I've done that more than a few times. :)

I may be very wrong ... but I think this Google description is about two crimes, and the link only takes you to the first one mentioned - the attempted abduction in Auckland's Botanic Gardens in March.

The second part of the Google description seems to be about this abduction attempt in Ashburton, South Island. And is actually from May.

That is correct, 2 separate crimes.
 
I think they may be waiting until Blessie's husband lands back in NZ and they can fully brief him before any further media announcements about the finding are made.
