NEW CHARGES? Court docs filed today in NH v Kayla Montgomery show prosecutors intend to charge #HarmonyMontgomery’s stepmom today w felony theft by deception and eight other misd charges. Looks like they won’t prosecute the current felony welfare fraud charge.

If KM had believed Harmony was with her bio mom, why wouldn't she think her bio mom might be collecting welfare benefits for Harmony and therefore get her (KM) found out.
She has to have known there was no threat to her collecting and nobody else would be collecting welfare benefits for Harmony.

SNAP benefits are administered by the states though. Is there a crosscheck between New Hampshire and Massachusetts? I doubt KM was the only one receiving benefits for a child whose custodial parent in Massachusetts was also receiving SNAP assistance.

The most recent offers are $5000 from Brandon Brooks of New England Dieselz in Hillsboro and $1000 from Phillip Dipaolo of Clearwater, Florida.

Maybe Kayla decided to talk? Wouldn't she be facing federal charges with welfare fraud?

no. while funds are federal, its handled by the state. in gneral, a person committing welfare fraud are booked and released from jail to get their photo and prints on file, barred from receiving public assistance and supposed to pay it back and thats it. they are charging her to lean on her.
