LOL MsFacetious, no one is gonna yell at ya!

And actually I understand your point of view. At least to some extent. Baby wasn't harmed, baby was good fortunately.

And as we don't know how baby and Mom happened to be in that area at that time, we don't know if kidnapping was even a possibility.

But there is no doubt baby was endangered. It was below zero there that night. What if the car stalled? What if there was a carbon monoxide leak? What if one of the local pedos stopped by? It wasn't a well traveled area. What if no one bothered to stop and check on the car? Yeah, some of those what ifs are unlikely, but they are still possible. And there are so many what ifs, too many. I consider that the child was found safely to be very fortunate, not a reason for mitigation.

Slight correction: it was around 32F, which is freezing, not below zero. Unless you're counting in Celsius. Which doesn't alter your point, but conditions weren't quite that bad.

None of these links will work for me. frustrating!
They sure seem to be tightlipped about what's going on....if there was a hearse, then I guess they must have found her. ???
Makes me mad, too, soyesterday. All this killing.

This article has a couple of good photos. Looks like both the pond and an area behind a garage or shed have police activity. If the photo is showing the right pond, that's not the snowmaking pond.

eta: WMUR says "The pond is near a child care center at the base of the mountain. It is not the same pond that was drained a couple of days ago. That retaining pond was near the parking lot where Dittmeyer's car was found." http://www.wmur.com/news/27686492/detail.html

They've moved reporters away from the pond area. The point of the pic was probably just a shot of the crime scene tape since they couldn't get the real pond. That pond just looks too small and there isn't any LE around it.

I found this article --if you think NG is goofy and mixed-up sometimes, this article has a video labeled "Body of Missing Mom Found". I almost flipped but it wasn't true. Scroll down the videos on the left hand side at the link and you'll find it. But since we know there was a hearse at the scene, I wonder if they accidentally leaked this info--the video is the same things we've been hearing, pictures of the car and the distraught family speaking.

Also, they have a search warrant for another car but they won't say whose car.

It might also be where they're looking for other evidence.

News is on here:

http://www.facebook.com/fox25news?sk=app_198107576891160

The pond is within sight of where the car was found.

The hearse and funeral director were there.

They showed video of the hearse...

They are talking about the Criminal Minds episode. People wanted LE to look into it, any connection is "speculation." (I agree, I think it's a creepy coincidence but I highly doubt anyone was watching that and said "that is a GREAT idea!" It's just not one of those episodes.)

Hearse Arrives at NH Search Site

http://www.pressherald.com/news/maine-dittmeyer-NH-police-pond-missing-cranmore.html

Photos at link.

Why would a hearse arrive? I don't remember seeing that before in missing persons/body found investigations...isn't it always the medical examiner who removes the body and takes it to the ME's office??

A county with relatively few murders might contract with a local funeral home to provide transportation at the times they do have a murder rather than the expense of keeping up their own hearse.

I know, I feel like I'm getting numb, or immune to it. I don't want that to happen! Life is too precious.
