“Look, we know there’s crime here. There’s gangs and fights. We kind of expect that,” Alicea said. “But stealing someone’s kid? That never happens here. Never happens.”

Two prisons also operate in Bridgeton: the county prison and South Woods State Prison, the largest in the state for male offenders. It’s one of the biggest providers for employment in the area.

“It’s difficult. We don’t want to be scared but it keeps us thinking. It’s in the back of our mind," Ilaria Tolentino said in Spanish. She noted her two children, 7 and 3 years old, often frequent the park where Dulce went missing. They haven’t gone back since.

“I just don’t feel like kids here are safe anymore,” she continued after pausing to wipe her tears. “Parents are aware of everyone’s kids, but this is just very disturbing.”

“I didn’t know her but it’s like, she’s all (of) our kid."

I think the case is fading from the news because there is nothing new that has been released. When there is no new information, it makes it hard for case to stay on the news.

Exactly. This happens in a lot of cases.

With no press conferences or new information being released, there just isn’t anything to report on.

No one wants to see a reporter standing there saying “no new developments.”

I may be crazy and really reaching here but hear me out . I was looking at all the pictures on google taken by park goers and I noticed some specific pics taken by a person that calls themselves “old man” they pictures all seem to be taken of the playground and they are all taken from a distance . Different angles . I cannot upload the photo but if you go google city park Bridgeton and look at their pics on the right you can scroll trough them . Like I said I’m really reaching but it stood out to me IMO
ETA: I bet the person who did this has studies the park well before doing this and considered his exits strategy carefully .

I hope they get Mom back on to do a presser. It's really sad. She has been fully cooperative. She hasn't done anything wrong, except be niaeve, and trusting as many young people are, unaware of the true evil that lurks around. Ready to strike at the first chance.

Right. I only mentioned Bundy as an example of being brazen. Some were suggesting a kidnapper would and wouldn't do certain things, but basically, they will do all kinds of things if the drive is there, and they think they can get away with it. For all we know, he might have still snatched Dulce had her mom been right there on the swings too.

I have no theory on Dulce's kidnapper, personally. All we know is his approximate height, possible outfit, vehicle, acne and Hispanic. I feel like the thread is all over the place because there are no new details, and some the info we have seen in the media seems a bit...off somehow, perhaps?

Ha! “Off somehow,” sums it up perfectly.

In many cases it’s easy to rule out certain theories and possibilities. Just about everything is on the table here.

“Principals, counselors and teachers are receiving questions, mostly about children wanting to know what they could do to help,” according to Victor Gilson, Bridgeton’s interim superintendent of schools. “They want to do things like posters and that kind of thing.

“We have made sure that we have counselors available for any children who need it, particularly at Buckshutem Road School,” Gilson said Wednesday. “No children are visibly showing signs of being upset or requesting to see counselors or speak to anybody, and I think that’s fortunate.”

Many, many people here were stating it was false. I didn't mean to pick on you (who I ADORE, really). I only meant to clarify the story as it is important everyone here understands what really happened. Even parents living in NJ who may have a false sense of security over the way that story played out.

Lack of evidence led to the end of the investigation. NOT THE SAME AS "IT DIDN'T HAPPEN". Everyone needs to be really clear on that story. There is absolutely NO EVIDENCE that it DIDN'T HAPPEN. None.

    (much love to imstilla.grandma)

Regarding child molesters, Joseph Duncan is the predator who had kidnapped both a boy and a girl, and killed people of both genders. So some child molesters have a specific type but certainly not all.

Suspect got to the park somehow unless he’s really locally close. If not local, he must have had to get out of the park in perhaps reverse direction.

That is still very rare. Most molesters have a type and a preference. Just like all people have a type and a preference, when it comes to sexual attraction. While there are some that will sexually gratify themselves with literally any breathing thing, that's rare.

While researching this, I was EXTREMELY upset to find that pedophilia, was a preference, has been removed from the DSM-IV as a mental disorder. WTF is wrong this version? There are so many things wrong with the DSM-IV but now this??? I'm horrified. So long as a person isn't acting on their thoughts, it's just a preference, like homosexuality or pansexuality? WHAAAAAT?!?!?!

    This is truly disturbing.

Well, the kidnappings of children by strangers are rare in itself. So unless there is more information, nothing can be ruled out.

I know and I’m not directing my comment personally as it is a great site with great people and mods but I was just so very frustrated that’s I listed approx 20 actions and investigative leads to follow on and it took me so much time so to lose it was totally frustrating. It’s been one of those days today but thats nothing compared to what this family are going thro so I will admonish myself and have some perspective!

If stranger triggered by opportunity - it’s gonna be rough to seek him out. If stranger preplanned - the City Park site shows prime times children visit on Mondays are from 4:00 to 6:00.

I remember a similar occurrence happened to me. I spent so much time researching and documenting. When I lost it, I wanted to cry. So I empathize. From that point forward - if I know it’s gonna be time consuming - I draft my post in Notes. Then copy it over. If it somehow gets lost in cyberspace, I can go back to my notes and copy/paste again.
