“An 11-year-old girl that officials say died by suicide at a Mount Holly middle school earlier this year was getting bullied and emailed school officials about it a week before her death, the girl’s mother said Saturday.

Mount Holly resident Elaina LoAlbo said her daughter Felicia LoAlbo-Melendez died two days after she was found unresponsive on Feb. 6 at her middle school.

[…]

Felicia —whose death came less than two weeks after her father, NJ Transit Detective Alexis Melendez, died from cancer— was getting bullied at the school, according to her mother.

A week before her death, Felicia emailed F. W. Holbein School administration and told them that she and her friends were being bullied and that the school was “breaking the laws” by not taking action, according to LoAlbo.

“She herself had written numerous emails to the administration detailing the events, yet no one was ever questioned,” LoAlbo said on Saturday after expressing concerns about the prosecutor’s office not investigating further into the bullying Felicia was experiencing.

“They have swept under the rug, the bullying that she and so many other kids in that school have encountered and now they’re doing the same with this investigation,” LoAlbo said.”

Such tragedy.
This situation with the beautiful Felicia is not going to go unnoticed, IMO -- at least I hope that is the case. This death needs to be investigated as to why nothing was done -- if indeed that is the case -- which IMO may well be what happened -- nothing.
Hoping to hear more news as to how this situation is developing.
Her friends who were apparently also enduring bullying should be able to back up Felicia's claim with more incidents and details.
Wishing her mother strength and faith.
Young Felicia will now and forever rest in peace.

First Adriana Kuch and now Felicia LoAlbo-Melendez.

It is the same pattern. They knew bullying was a problem, but did nothing. An all too common like with Roman Catholic Church, Penn State, BBC, USA Gymnastics, Celtics Boys Club, and South Hadley.

Let's not forget Mallory Grossman from Rockaway NJ, whose tragic suicide at 12 years old was the result of bullying. Mallory's parents have lobbied for laws here in NJ to prevent bullying Mallory's law amends New Jersey’s Anti-Bullying Bill of Rights with specific requirements on school districts to help prevent and respond to bullying incidents and the imposition of civil liability on a parent or guardian demonstrating willful or wanton disregard in the supervision of a minor adjudicated delinquent of cyber-harassment or harassment..

That's heartbreaking, but given that her dad died just two weeks prior, I wonder how much of her depression was the result of his death?

I am sure that this poor child was suffering immensely losing her father. That is why school should have been a safe place for her and the people responsible for her while she was there should have been paying Extra attention to what was happening in her life.

Felicia LoAlbo-Melendez, Felicia LoAlbo-Melendez, 11, took her own life at her New Jersey school amid alleged bullying after writing a school official to ask for a safe space for students “to let out all of their feelings and emotions.”

Felicia's message to a school official “Instead of a drama club, it would be a Trama [sic] club!” the girl wrote.
