Unless the circumstances given for Cruz are a total mistake, she was at work, working the day she disappeared. She went missing a year subsequent to the discovery of skeletonized remains so there is at least a two year discrepancy. In addition, Cruz went missing in the summer and was wearing lighter summer wear whereas the decedent was found wearing layers.

It would be nice to have more info about Nayell Cruz. I did some googling and found out that the name "Nayell" is very rare but the name "Nayeli" is a popular Aztec girl's name. There could have been a transcription error on her ID. (Whether that was a work visa or a social security card.)

I think the similarity speaks to the possibility noted by the NJSP that the decedent may be of indigenous descent.

Wow, Grace Gdadamosi bears a remarkable resemblance to the sketch of our UID.

https://www.findthemissing.org/en/cases/11475/4/

I overlaid them and the main difference is the location and shape of mouth/lips. Is this dispositive?

I realize that a competent anthropologist should be able to recognize African features on a skull but without an ME report on this UID it's impossible to say what sort of assumptions are being/have been made and what is based on fact. (The surname Gdadamosi appears to be Nigerian in origin but there are several by that name in the US and UK right now.)

Another possibility: Van Nguyen. https://www.findthemissing.org/en/cases/10840/1/
I think that her jaw is too narrow compared to the sketch, assuming the sketch artist was accurate. Otherwise it's a very close match visually and her ht/wt/est. age are very close as well.

What do other sleuthers think?

The other difficulty is that Nguyen and the UID have DNA on file. Again, we don't know if the UID has mtDNA or nuclear DNA on file which complicates matters.

With how many rule outs there are for this case it's clear the detectives are working hard and it certainly isn't a cold one. In looking for potentials matches, the one I found that I think is the strongest has no identifiers.
April Jacobowitz went missing from Germantown, MD. She was last seen in November or December 2002 and her debit card was last used in February 2003. She was estranged from her family and had children in their custody. I'm wondering if they may be about old enough now for DNA samples. She is listed as Caucasian but appears to have Asian features. She is 5'3" 100-110 lbs. She also appears to have on some fancy earrings in her photo which could have been worn by the same person who would sport a leopard print scarf IMO.

:welcome:I don't see one for her. You are welcome to start one under 2000's Missing in Missing But Not Forgotten. I would be happy to help if you'd like!

We can rule out Por Her, Hang Lee, Hyun Jong Song, and Sandra Cifuentes because they have DNA in the system. If the NamUs pages for both the Doe and the Missing Person say "Sample Submitted - Tests Complete" in the DNA section, it means they will be automatically compared, and if they aren't flagged by the system as a match, they can be presumed to be a non-match.

Ann Shaw is the only one who doesn't have DNA in the system, so we can't rule her out on that basis. However, she went missing 13 years prior and her husband has been convicted of her murder. Authorities believe she was dismembered and disposed of in Virginia. It is doubtful that the Jane Doe had been there for 13 years, as her her hair was still present, and her clothing was only mildly deteriorated.

I am the husband of Apryll jacobowitz let's get some facts straight she is Jewish has a daughter and son both adopted by me to her grandparents of there mother, she live with a guy her new boyfriend who was abusive to her in my opinion I think he had something to do with her missing she called me said he was abusive to her that last night I heard from her that same week I went to jail for DUI so I never heard back from her she went missing thereafter I was interviewed by detectives while in Jail I also had my lawyer hire a private detective but of no avail,a few years later I did a follow up on her case they had no more information it's been almost 20 years so presume she has passed I think the detectives should open a cold case and check on 2 boyfriends

Welcome @Jamesjimbo the best way to rule out this deceased woman as April would be to have her children give a DNA sample for April’s file. They could arrange this by contacting the police officer in charge of her case, or the Namus contact officer - details on the Namus website show this as Katharine Pope [email protected] ph 8178799357
